Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Another night with overnight rain but dry for now, I may try & bimble down the garden later just to check the progress of the cherries with the recent rain
Job that I do need to do is tie in the tomatoes in the conservatory, they are now growing after pausing post transplanting , fingers crossed for this year, one that seems belter already are the Balcony Yellow, own saved seed but flowering now
Nice pic RAS, always liked peonies although I’ve never grown them due to space and being a bit quick flush & that’s it
I spotted a lovely red nasturtium near my garage as I was putting the car away, just growing on a verge and a bit hidden away. Must have been self-sown or dropped somehow. However I have my eye on it for seed collection once it sets seed. I’ll try & get a photo next time I’m there
This is first flush of the Balcony Yellow flowers, only put one per basket this year to try & increase yield

It's still raining here, on and off.
I have no experience with these smaller hanging-basket-type tomatoes, so I don't know if mine are good or bad! One has maybe 20 flowers on it and others have none, but we're probably a month from fruit. We'll get courgettes in a week or two, which will be fantastic after the insipid things we've bought recently.
The weather isn't helping me diagnose my mower problem as it seems the battery is being grounded somewhere, instead of feeding the starter solenoid, or something like that, but I'm not rolling around on the ground until it's dry! When I get out today it's going to be a case of filling up the new deep bed. Muck in the bottom and then excavated soil from another place on top.Then. at last I can get planting.Yes it will sink, but I can't wait!
If any of you think you have a creeping buttercup issue, here's our top field!

I love the butter cups. Do cattle or horses eat them given the chance?

Everyone has a huge crop this year, and as some has already gone for silage, I guess the answer is "Yes." My hay person doesn't mind them anyway. It's stopped raining; I'm off out.....!0

Stunning peony, RAS 🙂 We mostly have Sarah Bernhardt here (planted four in 2018, plus a few more - not of all of which have survived - during 2020/21) and they have yet to open. In time I hope to plant a few more interesting ones!
We had persistent rain on Saturday, showers on Sunday and Monday, dryish/sunny yesterday and heavy rain overnight into this morning. It's been sunny but windy this afternoon. As a result I confess to not having done much in the way of gardening except removing a topiary buxus from a too small pot (discovering a massive ants' nest in the process), planting up the two white jasmines and ditto some lavandula of which we picked up six for £15 from a local independent garden centre on Saturday. We actually went there to buy a pot and were tempted by the Errington Reay ones (we've got quite a few of these already 😉), but came away without.
Some of the many roses we've planted are starting to suffer from an excess of rain, but I managed to take a few pics...
The Lady of Shalott
Lady Emma Hamilton
Fighting Temeraire

My gardening intentions were thwarted yesterday, just about to go and tie in the blackberries when the sky opened up, torrential, and then another lot later so the only thing I managed was tie back some of my lilies
Hoping to tie in the blackberries later today but showers are forecast PM so that may not happen
Lovely rose pics LL, I think the rain may have ruined mine but not been down to check for sure
Next up on my get done soon is plant out the coleus, the ones I moved into the conservatory are romping away as opposed to those I left on the window sill, light levels & warmth obviously suits them out there

Thanks Farway 😀 I hope the weather stays dry for you today so you can get your blackberries tied in! Sadly it's showers again here, so a bit of tying/staking is all I've managed so far, dodging the rain....
Here's a few more of our roses from earlier this morning (we have a theme of pink, apricot/orange, white/cream and mauve in the rose beds 🙄)...

Ferdinand Pichard and Kew Gardens
Jude the Obscure
Emily Bronte

Great roses there lily, and I loved your peony too.
I only have 'Molly the Witch,' who flowered recently for about 10 minutes! Blink and you miss her...
No gardening today as I was doing the big shop and noticing quite a few gaps on the shelves, particularly in L*dl. Sinsb*rys was much better at disguising theirs. I hope you folks are not only growing stuff, but also looking after the contingency stash, because it's going to be needed. We'll be getting the logs in now to add to the ones we stored last year, as I've a feeling the wood burner will be extra useful too and I've found we can't rely on bought logs being properly dry, even from long-established sources.
Sorry, no photo today. I took a few yesterday and they'll be back from the 'processor' soon!2
