I have a 'Susan' that's been in a pot far too long, phoebe. It's rather one-sided and may need corrective pruning, but at least it's alive and flowering. I think it was about £2 in the 'severely compromised' plant section at Morrisons. ;)
I also planted Gertrude Jekyll in a horrible position behind a big holly overhanging the stream bank, where only something really tenacious wiould be likely to survive. Of course it hasn't rained since...... :/
Gardened most of the time yesterday and even set up a bench for sowing and potting in the remains of the polytunnel, which still has its side walls intact. As it was very calm, we also laid out the cover on our largest lawn and I cut it into useful-sized pieces. Apparently, our daughter and her friends have uses for them, such as weatherproofing ferret homes and making DIY cloches etc.
It looks rather threatening out there, but no rain as yet and not a lot forecast. I have defrosting freezers on my list today, so it can do its worst!

Dull with damp on the way, and even snow maybe later this week, I bet the people who sold tender bedding in the sunshine will be gleefully rubbing their hands now

If it does go really cold that may ruin my new pear with its open blossom, it needs a pollinator and no insects with cold / wet will be disaster for it. Bu66er

Apart from that all’s well, and I can comfort myself by knowing any rain will water in Shasta daisies planted over the son’s on Sunday

Hope the snow/severe cold - if it comes - doesn't kill off your new pear/its blossom, Farway 🙁

, our Susan was originally in a 1m diameter pot. It's travelled from Wiltshire to Wales via the West Midlands and finally went into the ground four years ago (when we bought it in 2012 I think we knew we'd be selling that house - and ditto the next 🙄 - hence the huge pot!). It's now approximately 8' high and slightly less across the diameter, although tbh, I'm not sure it's in the best location.

Yesterday turned out sunny and warm after all so I spent the afternoon creating a path, moving between 30-40 (I lost count!) Tellima plants in the process. These are being relocated amongst the bluebells and primroses to hopefully add another layer of interest. They do tend to run wild so I need to watch that.

This morning started sunny, but I didn't get outside till midday by which time it had clouded over. Today's task is planting a dozen hostas and the Gertrude Jekyll vincas, along with much overdue weeding of the white bed. The rose beds are also desperately in need of weeding but I think the rain is heading this way, so that'll have to wait 😉

Another no gardening day, although the weather wasn't particularly favourable for long hours out of doors. While it didn't rain, it kept threatening to, with the odd few spots every now and again.
With the estate agents due, we spent most of the day cleaning and tidying, not to the standard we'd achieve if selling, but more than we'd usually do. While the free valuation isn't the main reason we're speaking with the agent, we might as well create as favourable an impression as possible and see what they say. Personally, I see prices tumbling later in the year, so whatever they think now it could all be very different by the year's end.
Im also moving tellimas phoebe. They look natural enough down by the stream, so our surplus goes there or under the elm hedge.Like you, I have much weeding urgently needing done before the great explosion of growth in April, now only days away. The elm hedge's leaves are already unfurling.....

Dull & cold, not a good day for my pear & plum blossom but nothing I can do about the weather, if I get just one pear from the new tree I’ll be happy to get a taste anyway

I’ve hurt my left hoof somehow and am now hobbling about so even if the weather was suitable I couldn’t do much anyway, can’t even hobble down the garden to take photo of the pear blossom

    Wow all this hard work!
Chill breeze yesterday, cloud and some rain. Still recovering from the virus, much like you do from flu so everything has been cancelled this week.
If it's not too freezing later I may go and plant a few seeds. It's all waiting on the lawn where I left it in the sunshine before I got hit by the bug. I think I've got to stop overthinking seed sucession and just get planting.
The Kale and Pruple Sprouting are still producing like mad and twice the size plants as normal so I can't squeeze the upcoming plantlets between them as usual.
The plum blossom is out and a good amount. Chill night predicted tonight but hopefully on the coast and sheltered it won't be too devastating.
The pastel coloured eternal wallflowers that looked lovely in winter are looking a bit wishy washy in the brighter spring light. But we'll see.

The overnight chill didn't amount to much here, thankfully. It's so dry our neighbour's collecting water daily for her horses, just as she does in summer when her 4 huge water butts give out. She was doing that when the agent arrived yesterday, put 2 and 2 together, made 5 and introduced himself to her. :s Cat well out of bag!!! :o
The agent spent 2 hours here, possibly because I'd got in some very spcial biscuits, but also due to us having some mutual acquaintances and houses, despite my 40+ year gap. The agent had sold all the houses I'd lived in as a child and possessed an incredible ability to recall them and the names of the owners. Although we dealt with a minion, he'd done all the details of this one too and recalled exactly what it was like before we changed things drastically. Amazing. Right person, right job, I suppose
As for his assessment.....well, not many surprises in terms of £sd, but the possibilities for change in the direction we want to go appear greater than we thought, so the next year or so will be interesting.
I might be able to have that posh wooden greenhouse after all! <3

    Oooo my!
Just a northerly wind here so far and bright.
Glad I did the seeds yesterday.
Even though the sun is out a brief trip into the garden bought me quickly in again so think it maybe tidying the gardening stuff in the garage at best.
