Over the weekend we went into full September wedding mode here, so although I'm still somewhat sceptical it will happen, I must play my part now and take greater responsibility...for the gardening!
DB is now stuck behind her sewing machine for the foreseeable future.
We had the rain overnight too, so today being predicted mostly dry, it'll be a good time to get the rest of the squashes in. Then.....the excitement of weeding.6 -

Raining here with unexpected thunder claps! Had a lot on my plate personal wise so not done much in the garden. Lots to do when other dramas are over. Glad to see all of you are well and lovely pics xx 🐈Just my opinion, no offence 🐈7

Black_Cat2 said:Raining here with unexpected thunder claps! That's interesting, It's felt like it might rain here all afternoon, but so far nothing and my lightning app hasn't shown anything west of Blandford Forum. I think you are though!Anyway, my squash are in and I've done 'some' weeding
I've also taken some flower pictures, but they're not downloaded yet.

We have had bits of rain today, not particularly heavy but enough for the garden. I did water the tomatoes in the greenhouse and I put food out for the birds... twice! Lots of blackbirds visiting today including the young 'uns who are clearly being shown where the food sources are.
I spoke too soon about the nectarine; there is fresh growth and some little buds so it should have some leaves soon.5 -
like BlackCat things in life have got a little out of hand recently and it's rained the last 2 days with black cloud and cold temperatures the rest of the time.Still not nearly enough for the very dry ground but I could do without the cold. Put the fire on tonight and cosied up.Did deadhead the roses though. The one over the arch is a mass of flower and some rotted with the rain. It is wonderful though. About 10ft in it's second year. The neighbour said it was getting a 'little out of hand' because some is growing on her side. As it's her front door view and all she's ever had is bins and orange fence you'd think she wouldn't mind but I cut a big branch off and have a huge vase of scented roses in the living room. Photo tomorrow. It's an old variety (my favourite sort) and will eventually grow to around 16ft trained along the top of the panel too - though I haven't told her that. It's my side and it will be at one end of my dull alley at the side so should send scent and colour along there.Looks like I have redcurrants on the new fan trained bush but the wind and rain and netting bought the trellis down so another job. Good news that another tiny one I bought is also red currant and will be moved to grow side by side as I need enough for redcurrant jelly should I still be able to afford some lamb this winter. The downside of enjoying watching so many birds now is that they have found the raspberries even though they are netted. It's usually the young blackbirds that go for them. Still picking daily though. Letting both last years and this it's beginning to look like a jungle out there!

And yet more rain overnight and still dampish in the air, no good for weeding or weddingNo sign of my currants ripening, way behind this year as FB reminded me in "your memories" showing me pics of my ripe red currants, still too soggy to really prowl about the damp foliage looking for fruits, I ma resigned to zero figs this year, just none in sight let alone getting ripeShould the wet ever cease I'll be able to pull some rhubarb, I know there's some ready2P, that rose sounds superb, surprising how they have come back into fashion where once they thought passed it and to be avoided but I suspect that was just with the trendy TV gardeners, all black grasses & Rills & not us growing for pleasure onesEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens3

Think positive; at least you're not trying to make hay......We didn't see much wet stuff and the thunderstorms petered out somewhere south of here. It's a 'maybe' on the hay this week with another damp weekend on the cards.Meanwhile, here's another in my occasional series of less usual garden plants, though I'm not sure if it's Geranium maderense or palmatum. Doesn't really matter, as we don't sell it. We used to kill it with kindness, trying to keep it in pots when it thrives best on neglect. So, it just seeds around and we pull up the ones we don't want.10

Pretty geranium, Dave!
We had quite heavy rain on Saturday night, showers Sunday, mostly dry but dull yesterday. Today is showery again.
Ahead of Saturday's rain we did manage a small bonfire but that barely scratched the surface 🙄
Veg are romping away in the courtyard garden, whilst out in the main garden lots of perennials are too - primarily phlomis, actaea, macleaya cordata, thalictrum and verbena. The huge swathe of day lillies aren't doing well at all this year though...
The peonies and roses are already showing signs of rain damage and yesterday I caught a cheeky squirrel eating a rose flower!
Here's a few more rose pics....
