Interesting about moon growing 2P, it was something I was aware of but never followed, back of my mind I have memory of trials being carried out by ??? and it was inconclusive, I'd imagine because of so many variables over a growing season it would have to be a very long term trial. However it's worth knowing and trying, I think some of my seeds must have been sown during an eclipse and are still waiting for the next oneHot & sultry day ahead, watering completed early this morning so when the thunderstorms turn up I have a head start, could do with a deluge to drown the aphids that have now discovered my runners, squished the few early scouts I spotted. There a flowers hinting red on them, not long nowThe Hurst Green Shaft pea pods are starting to swell, at Mange Tout stage now but I'll leave them a bit longerI have been staring & despairing at my wall baskets, full of weeds & neglected this year while I wondered what to grow in them, last year it was Dwarf French beans, without a lot of success so I wasn't going to repeat thatThen the penny dropped, use my coleus grown from seeds, they're loving this weather, some were destined for volunteer garden but I have sparesDuly planted upThis photo is a peanut found growing in one of the wall baskets this morning, a gift from one of the many squirrelsI've potted it up & will see what happens, I did have one years ago planted by squirrel in the garden and came to nothing, probably not warm enoughEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6

What on earth has happened to the forum?! I wish they’d stop fiddling around with it...
Love the peanut 🥜 pic. Nature always finds a way.
I wouldn’t mind this in my garden. Rhododendron or azalea?? I’m never sure. There’s a few around where I live and I love the colour of this one in particular.'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
It never rains but it pours here - well, it is Wales, lol 😂
Having still not resolved our family issue which is currently causing plenty of aggro, this morning DH and his partner turned up at the house of the client they are doing internal renovations for only to discover the daughter (recently back from a girls' weekend at a Bristol hotel) has tested positive for covid.
DH and partner promptly sallied forth for lateral flow tests (negative, phew!) and DH came home weighed down with more.
There is a positive - we've spent time outside, cutting back more overhanging laurel hedging in the mini orchard and have now gained a massive three metres depth all along its length. I reckon it was last pruned in about 1950, lol 😁
I've been trying to get my failing phone to take some decent pics of the Cornus kousa which is putting on a great show this year....Weather-wise, I think we're forecast for less thunderbolt and lightning here, but after a warm, sunny start, the drizzle has arrived.....

Had a thrilling time this afternoon out with local walking group, managed to attract a jay close enough to really see it in detail for the first time ever.
It came quite close to the group of us standing and snapping away which didn't seem to bother it at all but when a magpie turned up it skedaddled across the river pronto.7 -
That’s a lovely plant, Phoebe.
Kermit is back in the pond 🐸

Can anyone name this flower?? There are quite a few in the garden at the moment, they’re quite tall and leggy. These ones were bending over the path and getting in the way so I’ve snipped them off and brought them into the house. They smell nice too.'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -
Fab pic of the Jay, goldfinches. I’ve only ever seen one in the USA, at least that’s what I think it was. I didn’t even know we got them here.'A watched potato will never chit'...3

Can anyone name this flower??I think it's a white Polemonium(Jacob's Ladder) Poppy. They do get quite tall and leggy, hence the suggestion of 'Lambrook Mauve' as an early and tidy version yesterday. Cut back, it will bloom 2x a season too.Not much to report here as I've been prepping the conservatory floor for the tiler and watering, watering, watering....

Dave - I refilled the waterbutts from the hose yesterday and spent this morning (6am) and after work (7.30pm) watering. It started raining at 8pm.3

That’s quite a funny coincidence, Dave. I’d heard of Jacobs Ladder but always thought it was an indoor plant for some reason. Funny that it was mentioned yesterday and I didn’t have a clue it was in my garden. I was trying to clear a path earlier and actually pulled them out completely, then thought they might look nice in a vase 😂 I’ve just looked at the link you posted and I think I prefer the ‘mauve’ version. Says it’s sold out on the website now though.'A watched potato will never chit'...3
