Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Morning all
Guess what? Biscuits do go off actually, ask me how I know 😬Well, how we know. Himself went mad clearing the understairs cupboard yesterday while I took some yellow roses up to mum+dad, and he found a box of Fox's biscuits dated 2015. I assured him they'd be absolutely fine cos sugar is a preservative, and weren't we taught at school how they'd found a 2000 year old thing of honey that was perfectly edible. Boy was I wrong. Mind we've both got clean pipes this morning but a much depleted loo roll stash. Next house absolutely definitely
must havea little downstairs loo or an en suite or summat.Ahhh Merlin, ye wee dote 😍🤗
You all set for tomorrow 2p or did you get another date..? 🤞
Glad you didn't come back with more than you went with Dusty 😀No birds in a garden though, that just seems wrong 😔
Boo to the trapped finger taff but yay to the #Shawshank scabious ☺️
OT sun's out but it's almost bladdy cold. NNE wind that's lovely and dry but my god it whips the heat off ya.

I got a respiratory infection that, unknown to me is doing the rounds so op cancelled.
One month and I have to start again 😬
Hopefully it won't take too long.
Remember shop bought stuff isn't real food. May not even be made from sugar, as you found out. Sorry for your inconvenience 😉

Anything that has fats and oils in it goes rancid within a year or two Bluey. As
prepperspeople prepared for shortages since the People's Pantomime, we've learned through experience. 😕 Overall, we are still well in profit by bulk buying on offers. A few naff oatcakes are nothing in the broader scheme of things. 😉I'm sorry to hear your op's been cancelled, 2p, but not surprised. This respiratory lurgy can take a couple of months to clear-up if Mrs D and others I know are typical.😟 I was lucky.

Gawd 2p, that doesn’t sound pleasant. Hopefully they’ve put you on good tablets so you’re good to go in a month 🤞🏻 “Inconvenienced” 😄
I thought that about fats + oils Dusty but they smelt fine. They weren’t firm but more like a cookie. Ah well, lesson learnt. We’re both alright this morning, so it’s back to work we go.
OT cool out there this morning. My phone says -1 WoC but it really isn’t. There’s a keen northerly to come but the rain’s stopped, for now.
Cissie hasn’t rescued any more lambs, which she’s very sad about. She loves babby lambs. And Adored Grandson says my taties are Scottish First Earlies and they’ll be waxy and buttery and lovely.
Couple of pics. CatWeeTree is in full bloom 😏 This was it yesterday in the lovely afternoon sunshine -And this is one of my toms. Bluddy thing. The rest are all fine so I’m hoping this one was just suicidal. It’s in the bin now anyway. With it being forecast Autumny all week (🥳😃) I wonder if it’s a bit cold for them out there. Our daytime temps are single figures. I might drag them in and they can sit on my connie floor.

Almost a grass frost this morning, but no toms outside here, thankfully! 😐️
The sudden plunge in temperature made it easy to snap this photo of a lethargic Orange Tip on a Hesperis matronalis ( Dame's Violet) this morning.
Not much news. Yesterday was cleaning and repotting. Today begins bright, clouds-over for some hours, and then ends brightly, so I'm told. No respite from the cold nor' westers. 😕

Cold Norf wind out there, feeling sorry for my runners and hoping they don't get ideas from YBE tom. That looks like frost damage to me Blue.
All my hardening off toms & courgettes is on hold for the week, forecast is cold & cold. Conservatory is full but can't be helped.
My Cat Wee Tree is also full bloom, but better still, my pyracantha is set to be a cracker this year, it was very sparse last year, and only had a handful of berries. Normally it is festooned in them.
Rain due sometime, probably around midday when the window cleaner is due 😊Then brighter with a clear cold night, hope no frost or it's farewell Runners, it was nice knowing you
No gardening anticipated, too cold to fiddle with pots

We have rain. It'll stop when the guttering is back on the garage/new office and the water butts are reconnected…

It always comes down to money for the not composting it properly. Is there a grading system or did I make that up? I'm sure I've seen some saying it's this grade or it's that. The scabious is Tatarian cephalaria, lovely soft yellow flowers, mine out the frontreached about five foot last year, but that's mostly the stalks and not the bushy bit at the bottom. All this food? :) Last year was rubbish, I had bits and pieces, but nothing freezer worthy, hoping it'll change this year..All the tomatoes [19 at the lotment so far] I'm trying to grow this year are to make salsa, or passata as most people know it, I use quite a lot of it [ half italian] and your own tomatoes [if they’re ripe] are much better tasting. There was one year i borrowed a polytunnel and grew 250 plants, they all got used one way or another. The chilli tomato jam was a winner that year. I finally found a good recipe for zucchine fritters last year, so we ate a lot of those…That's just crap about the chest infection, fingers crossed it departs sharpish. Still no fun when you've set yourself up mentally for an op though.
I'll visit my toms again later on today or tomorrow, they should be ok, they're in the most sheltered bit I've made at the lotment so far. The snow peas and mange tout are rubbish, but the garlic looks like it may be good. Love all the things you have growing together seemingly in harmony there, the rose is lovely. The pyracantha round the corner house is absolutely chokka with flowers this year, must be The Year…
Asparagus kale? ooo….I had some of their sutherland kale before, really nice. Always a big thumbs up for Real Seeds [ don't bother with the aztec brocolli, looks like fat hen] Professional growers are still using peat because they're mostly abraod aren't they? Or do nurseries etc here use it too? And now I know what Geranium macrorrhizum means…what a beautiful jigsaw of patterns on the flyby..
Well, at least you gave the biscuits a go! My mothers favourite saying was, well, it's sealed, it'll be fine [ no, it won't be fine, it's clearly got mould all over it…] or things like that. Mind you, I have discovered that greek yoghurt will last far far past it's bb date in the fridge, at least two months..sealed, of course. Sorry about your Northern Tomato…It's gone to Valhalla now though where it can throw axes and quaff bier…
No gardening done, it's watering day for the big stuff in the ground and sort out the greenhouse after coffee with a friend later on. I will try to make it to the lotment to do some weeding , but if not today, tomorrow. Still chilly today too..

Nothing done today. It's been 'one of those days ' when you wish you'd kept the door locked and just read a book.
I did literally chuck some water on the potatoes and tomatoes. It's was cold, then hot this afternoon then cold again. Amazing sunset but that's on my camera. I tried to photograph my rescue rose but my tablet decided to do everything in reverse, want to go up you go down, to the right you go left. I've obviously pressed something but can't find out what and it's making me seasick 🥶
Sorry about the rain situation Greenbee.
Awww poor tomato Bluey. I agree that looks like cold damage.
Incredible photos Dusty.
I agree with the philosophy Farway.
That's a lot of tomatoes Taff. I grow San Mazano? For salsa. It's slower than some but better, meatier if you can get it going in time. If desperate, Tesco's salsa in the fridge salad bit is surprisingly good.

Morning all, on a nicer morning than yesterday was.
They’re lovely pics Dusty, so the cool days are useful for something 🙂
Woohoo for your pyracantha Farway, your wee birds will be happy eh. I dragged my toms in last night after they’d got the last of the evening sun, might be a while ‘til I get them out again…
Sods Law about the rain gb, are you all connected up now? I was walking to work when the rain came on, so I nipped back for my brolly and the sun came out 🙄
I’ve just looked up your scabious taff, I quite fancy one of them but I Haven’t Room… Wot news on your dicky ticker? They best not say “exercise more” cos you don’t stop as it is! 😄
Have you tried the techy bit on here 2p, they’ll prob sort your seasick pics 🙂
I found out what the He+She person said to BBM. He wasn’t acknowledging her He days and her She days so she said this wasn’t a safe space and called him a fuggin dinosaur 🫣 Apparently she doesn’t believe in probationary periods at all and thinks they should be illegal, and yes she’s suing him (one of the girls said she’s put it on facefook) What is wrong with people?!
OT sunny and a bit cool really. 6’ currently with a high of 15’ to come, possibly. They wanna switch that wind off, it’s had enough of a go now. Thankyouplease.Honesty is the best poverty.4
