Apodemus, they're a beautiful colour. I picked up a purple / white one last year and never got round to planting it. Spotted one in my garden and donated both to No2's garden.
Twopenny, onion (and family) are supposed to repel bugs due to their smell.
I put some ferns into the neighbours garden, need to sow more flower seeds and I'm thinking of creating a rockery as there's enough stones to make it and I've spotted a few suitable plants I can relocate. Neighbour dropped beer and chocs up to us..
I've been busy planting (toms and dwarf french beans) and sowing seeds (leeks, root veg) in the 'raised beds' of the borrowed garden, tomorrow I've got to make a start sowing in the prepared ground section. Seeds are sorted out.
I planted out some more toms, peas, a runner bean and squash in my garden. Found more runner seeds and quickly potted them up.

I've been clearing up the longer grass the ride-on left on the surface and titivating odd corners with the walk-behind or the brush cutter, according to wildness. Spotted a few very nice aquilegias in the borders, so I'll try to snap a few soon.Out to eat fish & chips tonight in a place of torture for those with pollen allergies, but our usual spot was occupied by a huge tonnage of manure and even less suitable!
The view towards Dartmoor was worth a photo:
Sitting quietly, as we do, it's amazing what pops out of the field margins. Had to push the camera a little to get this shot:There were two; neither willing to approach very close!9 -
Looks like a super supper spot, Dave....love your hare, lol 😂
Don't blame you for flopping on the sofa, Moving, you're a bit of a hero taking on the neighbours' gardens too 😃
Sunny and warm this morning and the first rose (Jacqueline du Pre) is fully open 😄Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Lovely pictures as usual, and the early rose. I was looking at my pics & buy this time my climber was in flower, still buds at present but not long now, especially with today's warmth & sunshineApart from watering nothing garden related done, I was stuck in 1890 Watford on a Family history quest, followed by a trip to 1941 Stockton and a crashed bomber, both same family fifty years apart. Times change for better or worse whatever happensEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5

I'm at the flopping on the sofa stage though I intended to go for a walk. Arrive, gardening neighbour who I asked in for advice on layout and got an invite to view her garden. Oh more space and 20yrs on I've got garden envy. She has a smallish L shape with dwarf trees and hidden areas full of blooming true geraniums which are followed by perenials and roses. It's wonderful for a bungalow. Really enchanting.Moved bench, tried pots of trees in various places and trimmed up Ceonothus which at 2yrs old has reached 6ft! Cleared and cleaned.Hopefully in a few years I will have something that's more interesting.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Sunshine from the start today, that garden sounds lovely 2P, understandable envy.My garden is quite small & although it's never going to happen now I think with a bit of effort it could turn it into one of those hidden tropical style types seen on Gardeners' World at times, big leaves & jungle style. One of my immediate neighbours grows solar powered fairy lights
, each to their own I suppose
Today is more watering pots at the front, has to be done today due to hospital stay and time will be tight tomorrowThen it's Chelsea Chop time for the sedums, they do like it here but very undemanding of course, these started when I arrived home with one stuck to my clothing, since then they've spread wherever I go, including my volunteer border
I think I have an apple cutting rooting as well, used one of the pruning off cuts and just stuck it in a pot and now it has green budsMy T & M saga apple + pear offer now have leaf buds & leaves, the pear looks like it has fruit buds as well but I'm not expecting fruit this year, especially at this late stageEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens4 -
We have family here, so while they distract each other I'm getting urgent jobs done!
Courgettes and rainbow chard are planted out now to supplement those in the polytunnel. More to follow.
It was so bright yesterday my aquilegia photos were mostly too bright, with lights washed-out, but here's one that's OK. We have quite a few clematis-flowered forms and they're always producing something new...8 -
Good luck tomorrow farway. Shame they can't arrange these things for rainy days.
Dave that's lovely. Such a simple plant but beautiful. Even better because they look after themselves.
Don't know today. Will go foraging at the supermarket and see what the traffic is like before considering first open garden for 2yrs. So up to my ears in stuff needing doing in the house and garden I don't know where to start.
So I may just go and paint the fence posts under the standard lavender to look like brick. Totally pointless but a fun job in the sun and ignore the essentials.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Some beautiful photos on here. I’m just trying to catch up after MSE signed me out again and I couldn’t remember my password. That’s why I ask to stay signed in, MSE 🙄
It’s been scorchio today 😎 too hot to work in the garden so I just watered a few pots after the sun had moved round.
My contribution to the aquilegia pics. I was trying to capture a bee that was flitting from flower to flower. You can just make out the bee’s backside disappearing into a flower at the top of the first pic 😂
Hope your hospital appointment goes well tomorrow, Farway.'A watched potato will never chit'...6
