All good stuff Farway. You'll be glad of the dahlias come end of summer 🙂
Just checking my seedlings outside and there are signs of a proper leaf coming. That was the threat of resowing.
Made a sort of frame for dwarf potted apple tree (granny smith) had no idea what I was doing but tied some branches down as they'd all been growing upwards. 🤞
My dwarf cherry is looking magnificent and promising. Mind a long way to go yet.
And the yellow wallflowers that are so elusive are front and back 🙂

You did right in tying apple branches more horizontal, stops them going to the sky & gets the fruit buds going, plus keeps all your Grannies in easy reach. 😁
Envy you the cherry blossom, mine is still buds
Rain / drizzle now under way here, sigh 😒

My fruit trees were planted last year, so apparently `I need to leave them alone until this winter and then start tying the branches down. Chances of me remembering are pretty slim…

They'll still give apples Greenbee. Which is the aim of the game. 😉
Posting before I forget 😄 Farway when you can watch this week's Gardeners World. Saving seeds - meh - but most of all tomatoes. A whole new ballgame. Hope you've saved some of your pension after your bargain purchases.
Heard of micro tomatoes? I'm definitely up for trying this because it might extend my season! Just right for one.
I suspect Dusty knows it already 😊

I finally remembered to record gardeners world.
Farway I actually picked up a dahlia a few weeks back, and there’s been nothing but dahlia advice on insta ever since. I can’t see any eyes or expecting much tbh. Well done getting a good haul.YBE I wish I’d known the rain was clearing by dinner yesterday as I’d have done a wash too. I’m still looking out for gaura and going to try love in the mist if I can find seed . I reckon LITM might do ok as I can grow Erigeron and Farway has trouble with both. 😂
Work weekend ,so no gardening for me. Hope you all get a good one.

Morning all, on the Day In History that Europeans settled in San Francisco…
Cold out there this morning, I've only been out to feed the birds but that wind is biting. Lovely and dry and sunny though so himself's work clothes are in the wash. In other weather news - Tusky was spot on yesterday! On the 15 min radar thing it said it'd be raining all morning with the last rain showing at 0945 and clear by 1000. It stopped raining at 0950. That's pretty dam accurate is that eh. See drunkards, it can be done 😎
I went into morries yesterday and nipped in the gardening lean-to thing they have to ask about compost. The fellah said it's outside and round the corner. Well it was a pallet of bags of "mini bark" 😄Funny bu99er.
Woohoo for revenant plum and goosegogs Farway 😀 Thanks for CatWee tree info too. I'll walk round that way to work on Monday and see if I can get a better pic. I know it wasn't a great pic to be looking at the tree but I wanted the lovely wispy clouds in it 😊
Good to hear your seedlings have rallied 2p, that'll be them away now 🙂I love the colour of your wallflowers - Lovely Neighbour has some but they're all a mucky pinky purple sort of hue. I wonder if she'll get yellows this year cos if she does I'll nick some seeds…. Which reminds me I've still got that jar of poppies and aquilegias on my kitchen windowsill from when the other neighbours left. Am I too late to start the aquilegias do we think?
Bluddy wind taking your ornamental pear blossoms Dusty grrr. My hawthorn isn't out yet, it's still in the thinking and producing a few more leaves stage, I'm nowhere near flowers. Thank god. That was kind of your 'almost neighbour' to teach you pooter stuff. Means you're not surrounded on all sides by erseholes ☺️
We'll remind you to tie down your fruit branches gb, I'll try and remember about Halloween time 😎 Well hopefully one of us will…
I like the colour of your daffs wort, I've never seen that peachy coral colour before. Do they smell different to the other ones?
It's a shame it's such a cold day with the beautiful sunshine, feels like it'd be a waste to just sit inside. But I'll look for 2p's bees and the GW diddy toms. Was BG on last night? I forgot to even look. Himself, who has now pronounced himself The Master of All Gardening Knowledge, says that they're moving/buying another garden cos this one is done. Anyone else heard that? Please say no, he'll be unbearable if he's right 😣

Cold here too. I’ve taken Stinky out for a short walk before his breakfast and am back in bed with coffee and a cat watching the sun through the trees from inside in the garden warm. Thankfully it’s another cheap electricity day, so electric heating will be in from 9-4pm, at which point I’ll light the fire. It may be a bit too cold for me to do much gardening, in which case I’ll try to clear some space and get some seeds planted, as F&V is going to be so expensive. Maybe I should find space for another greenhouse so I can separate my tomatoes and cucumbers…

Chilly and sunny here too. My answer is to sit on a chair at a sunny window with a book, tea and cake Greenbee.😊
Bluey the seed and toms bit is near the end of GW. Have you watched The Wild Gardener x 2 episodes by a wildlife film maker? One making it, two a year later. It's in Ireland.Maybe too slow for you.
My friend buys plants but won't dead head so as soon as they get the slightest bit ropey she yanks them out and puts in something else. Saves moving house 😉 she changes the flower bed shapes and textures every year too.
Love the daffs Wort. I have a big jug of them in my kitchen. Tesco's selling them off half price. Was tempted to fill the house as mine have all gone over.
Mostly DN today. Unless it brightens up more the garden can wait. May sneak round the badger run and plant some seeds.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Errr….if you mean determinate, naturally small toms, I've grown them for years, mainly because they're fast out of the blocks, with a good chance of fruit by June.😁 I used to grow one of the weird 'sub Arctic' ones, just to get toms fast, then cull them when others came along. They grew very untidily.😒 However, nowadays, there are varieties which behave, like this one I'm currently growing:

Of course, I didn't pay more than about £1 for my seed. T&M give me a special deal, as I let them spam me every day. 😄 I'd think something like 'Sweet Million' would suit you nicely in a tub. 😊
Ah, yes, of course, M n'S rejects would be where I've seen those pinkish daffs! Thanks, wort.😉
No, we're not entirely surrounded by loonies, Bluey. Never have been, but our best pals have left, or are soon to leave, so it's heartening to have a new person who's skilled, active in the community, and friendly. I'd say 50% of the folk in the neighbourhood are 'OK.' Many are short-term renters, who come and go almost with the seasons, so they've little incentive to do more than say “Hi.” 🙂 The new owners of the nearest farm haven't moved in yet. I've my fingers crossed for them. 😉
I agree, 2p's yellow wallflowers look lovely. I know the 'muck' ones you mean. Paid x2 for some of those seeds, and wished I'd not bothered! 😕 Aquilegias take 2 years from seed. 🙁
I must get the card from the wildlife camera. We're now having 2 hogs visiting each night, and sometimes we catch them together. Normally, they aren't very social, but they'll tolerate each other in open spaces.
Yesterday's forecast was accurate here. Mucky with drizzle most of the time, but it cheered-up in the late afternoon. I sowed seeds and potted-on. As the sun set, I caught it again from the same position, and noticed how far it was from the spot between the trees in the last photo, a few days ago. By 21st June it will be setting just norf of the church tower in the town….the furthest it goes…..from our POV!
Bloomin' muck wagon is still there! 🤨
