"Less - Nudge - it IS March - funny how spring suddenly creeps up!😄 (though it still looks like winter out there here…)"
My backdoor is open and fresh air is circulating. First time this year…I'd never heard of spuggies being sparrows before. I just asked OH, him neither…Maybe because we don't see that many of them..

Photo, my Sutton broad beans, just for taster, not fill freezer. Started on damp kitchen roll 2nd Feb to germinate, then into these pots to grow on a bit in unheated conservatory. Probably plant out to final spot beginning of March

Ooops, time for me to play the daft old codger card 😁Meant April, in my Easter Bonnet with all the beans upon it
But at least it looks & feels like spring out there, just came back in after rootling in Chick poo pellets & BF & B into some large pots
I can also report a dog has plopped in the middle of some bluebells adjacent to Dog Poo Border 🤬 Now Poobells 😂

Me too, only t'other day caught myself thinking that I had another month to do something (forgotten what now😁) that had to be completed before end of Feb…🙄
And here are mine from March 2023 (first one showing how many more crocuses there were just three years ago😪)
not forgetting the Beast from the East, 2018 (acc to Gargle), know that was c. the middle of the month…
Just light dampness, and reasonably mild, today… started pruning my much-neglected fruit bush thicket, better late than never, keeping eye out for any nesting activity; sunny days forecast 🙂…

Been a gorgeous day here 😊 sunshine, the solar fountain started up. 18c the thermometer said and I wore a t-shirt out !!
Japonica still looking dead but has green under the bark. Just about everything else in bloom or bud at once except the apples. They too are not believing it's spring. And we know it can turn into the photos Less posted 😲
Debating whether to plant runner beans, the thought of fighting the blackfly seems exhausting but you can't buy them fresh now. Ditto BBs.
Bits still not working so I abandoned the garden apart from sitting in it and managed to get a plumber and handyman and a banking appointment 😲 probably cost a fortune but has to be done now I can't do it so I will have to suck it up.
Seems all my recent photos are on my camera so I can't contribute at the moment but recorded because we all know

Hmm, we were not so lucky! We had early drizzle, a little sunshine, and then it was all downhill, with more fine rain to end the day. 😒 Mr New was bashing around in his digger and chainsawing. I couldn't match his enthusiasm, though I moved some sand and silt downstream to refresh the stream. We're already at peak primrose in the garden, and in the next week or two, it'll be the same down there. I'll do photos then. It's really a spring 'garden,' but apart from the primroses, very slow. 😕 We've a few snowdrops, and one or two mini daffs, but they don't seem to multiply. Geraniums won't be far behind the primroses, and they do OK. 😊
The rest of the time I was in the polytunnel, seed sowing, or potting-on. I know we're just out of February, but with everything outside so advanced, it feels later. Yes, we could still get a Beast from the East. However, if I remember correctly, it was short-lived and our seedlings in the conservatory were happy enough. Photo from the 2018 archives:
The drunkards in Exeter are predicting a calm day today, potentially with some sunshine, and up to 13c. Hope they're right! 😏
And finally….had an email from the log supplier whose delivery we cancelled on January 9th with Storm Goretti imminent and an orange warning in place. Would we like them now? 🤣

Your comment, Dusty, that a flurry in mid-March followed the Beast from the East got me checking dates - my weather notes from that period not very comprehensive but, I see that we did leave the heating on overnight for a couple of days around the beginning of March 2018 - the official Beast dates (precautionary, following burst pipe incident in the much colder December of 2010, combined with a heating system which couldn't really cope with our house in ordinary cold conditions!) - but what I've always thought of as the Beast was the middle weekend in March, when we were at an event in a not-well-heated Sports Hall in the midlands, where I took the following photo on a morning walk before one of the day's proceedings:
To return to the present day - forecast NOT sunny today - cloud and max of 9 - OK weather though for tussling some more with my thicket (especially the goosegog bushes, where the more clothing worn the better!)

It is Spring here again, ends on Friday, milky pale blue sky but mild & pleasant.

My japonica is just showing pink buds, I was waiting a few more days to get open flower pics.
I don't have solar fountain, but if I di it I think it would be chugging away this morning
You & me both on Runners & BBs. I did say i was not going to grow any more, due to aphids etc etc, but with rocketing prices, and those that are in shops are grotty I am growing some again this year, just for a taster, and couple of meals. I'll probably add some Manky Toots peas as well
Shame about the need to "get someone in" but that has been my fate as well, as you say, just have to suck it up & enjoy what you can do, forgetting what you can't
My rhubarb is coming along now, open leaves showing, be a n bit before at picking stage, but i did give them a dose of BF & B yesterday, and the improving weather will soon see them in a crumble
My goosegogs are in leaf, untrained, just a prickly mess, but nice tasting ones. Sounds similar to Less's. Apples, fruit buds just starting, even my recent Sunset looks like a crop this year
My French pear, buds starting to show, and my cherry has buds ready but is looking a bit sparse this year. I wonder if last year's drought has nudged it slightly Northwards? Be a bummer now I have at last found out how to stop the birds scoffing the cherries, No nets, just Fleece all over ripening fruit BTW
MY self saved castor oil seeds have been soaked overnight, I'm going to try & start germination on damp kitchen roll
I'll have a shuffle through my R beans to see what variety, maybe cop out & sow some of each?

That photo was taken on 18th March, so I agree with you. My comment on it is wrong!😢 I don't seem to have any photos of snow (or anything else) in early March. 😕
Just popping back to add that I finally have chillies up and about at last! ☺️ Our mangy toots went in yesterday too, in pots in the conservatory. Optimistically, I also planted a few courgettes! 😄

By the seaside. Not looking like spring at all 🫤 was going to finish the new bed this afternoon but 15min queues to get back so it may be a long trip over the Moors instead.

Morning all, on World Wildlife Day :)
Flying visit. I love the colour of your orange alder trunk, and the split logs Dusty, you can almost smell them ☺️ It's deffo your turn with the tom forest this year Farway cos I only planted 2 seeds from each of my IOW toms so I should maybe have around 10 plants, possibly, more or less. I'll get my acers repotted at the weekend, I'm sure I've pots somewhere that would do the job. 2p your beach is another pic that I can smell, fresh and salty and calming 😊Sounds like you've got a good bunch of people up at your lotment taff, 'do yours a damage' made me smile 😀 I meant to ask himself about spuggies Less but I keep forgetting 🙄 Mind if further north from here is it's geographical home then he prob won't have - he's a yellowbelly.
OT it was a nice day yesterday and we've the same the come today but with a gentler breeze, they say. I hit the sweet spot this morning with my coffee in the garden - it was just starting to be bright enough that all my wee birds were up and about, but still a bit of darkness left for the owls to be finishing up. It was heaven 😍
Saw this on my way to work yesterday, made me smile -
That’ll do.
