I want osteocheerfuls even more now, they do look well among your other plants 2p
Your collie story made my heart smile, I wonder why she slept on the doorstep though... fingers firmly crossed your JF spray works (I reckon it will).
I've never got JapAnes outta their pots taff, I hardly get them home before they turn their eyes sky-wards, sigh, and die on me. But they're only pence so I keep lifting them. My behind plants are toms that I've grown from seed, but I've a lack of pots and inclination to sort them. I really don't have enough room for them, or grobags, or space to sit them if I got them all planted. I don't learn
You wouldn't have to worry about tripping over a sleeping dog and being found half-eaten by them Farway. A dog would never do that to you. A cat prolly would thoughDid you get a taste of rhubarb?
Dog gone. And despite having free run of the garden she managed not to poison herself at all at all. Whoodathunkit! Now my time's my own again I'll absolutely get the tom forest sorted, really I will.
OT sun's out, wind's coming, rain too. Possibly. They reckoned the Feels Like was 12' here yesterday, well it bluddy wasn’t cos I was mafted! I was only tootling about weeding and pulling up bindweed + thistles + mare’s tails. And squidging greenfly off my Swish Rose. And looking disparagingly at my plum tree cos it’s decided to curl up its leaves for absolutely no goddam reason. But I planted out my sweet peas and sunflowers so that’s fewer things to waterI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.8 -
Pics. It rained like bu99ery last night. This appeared at the front -- and a beautiful feathery cloud appeared at the back (zoom in for a blackie sat singing to it) -Also - dog rose -I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.8

Up early bird this morning, and I've already HAD to water the pots at the front, the rain promised never arrived, well maybe a spit or two, so down to me again.Blooming cold wind first thing.Rain tomorrow so they say, yep, right, pull t'other oneYoungBlueEyes said:Did you get a taste of rhubarb?

But like you gawd knows where I'm going to put them once they grow up a bit.I have curly leaves everywhere this year, watched a wasp helping themselves to aphids, every little helps. If only snails ate them.My plum is also on disparage staring list, loads of the plumlets have fallen off, only have to touch them & they drop off, presumably riddled with maggots or not fully pollinated
The plum tree is now back on the endangered list, with temporary stay of execution because it may serve as a prop for a clematis, or long shot, my Boysenberry, if that ever gets it's arras goingI like the dog rose YBE, I have some seeds in Dog Poo borderNice red cloud pic as wellStill planning what to put in DP border, I have Shasta daises & a furry poppy, did briefly think of osteowhatsits, but I don't think it is sunny enoughStill on look out for rose, not got round to a cutting yet.JapAnes may do, if I can spot some in Dead plant Gulch on next trip to MorriesNo signs yet of the seeds sown about a week back, but I have some of the knee hi sweet peas popped up at long last, months after I sowed them. Very spindly & sickly looking, so not likely to come to much once planted on.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens8 -
What a beautiful Christina Aguilera Aquilegia, Dusty. Hope new baby is settling in - are they with you still or have they moved into the do'er up house??
I love the dog rose, YBE, it's a perfect matchand the clouds and rainbow pics are lovely.
I do love the robin's spindly legs, taffI saw something on FB this morning where someone had lifted an owl's feathers at the bottom and exposed its very long and slender legs. Not fair on the poor owl, but it did look funny.
The marathon runners (and spectators) had everything thrown at them weather wise yesterday, including at least two prolonged hailstone showers. At times it was beautiful sunshine, then the rain came and everyone ran for shelter under the trees. Rinse and repeat several timesThe finish line was in Musselburgh, so that's where we were. It was a brilliant atmosphere, even with the dodgy weather. Such a long day though - a six hour round trip to get there and back and six hours in Musselburgh with 14k steps done (I'm sure the marathon runners did a lot more than that though
)
We've had heavy rain this morning and the forecast is for thundery showers. I'm still shattered from yesterday, so a nice quiet day is on the cards.'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -

Their house purchase is going through.....slowly. It's a combination of factors: numpty, distant owners, tough negotiations following survey, contaminated land 100m away....all we need now is a flood or a sink hole!
But seriously, it'll be a great buy, for the garden alone!
Baby is settled enough for the health visitor/midwife not to bother with a visit today. All going swiftly and well there. We did the soundproofing in this bungalow when it was rebuilt, so even if he yells at night, he doesn't disturb us!We're still waiting for the rain.I went out early with the ride-on to beat the drizzle, cutting the path across the lower field, into the orchard and willows, and then the one down to the stream. This is so our guests may wander freely, and without worrying about ticks. They probably won't, though. Even the kids don't leave the garden. It's as if we have wild animals roaming freely here. Jurassic hedgehogs etc.
I liked Bluey's dog rose too.Has it a name? It's very like one I saw last week, which also had a great scent.14k steps! That's around 5 miles, isn't it?
As we're still on Aguileras....This plant was in Rosemoor's Cottage Garden, but one's just popped-up here. Naturally, it's in a rough area, not in the garden!Had to peer to find your blackie, Bluey, but I bet hearing him was easy!."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. 2p I meant the red worms in the compost being too dry..Dusty, ahh, that is why mine didn't come back then? Purely by chance I bought a purple and a ehite osteo this year so we shall see...I'll blame you if they die though...I never before realised aqualegias were so varied having only seen purple or lilac or pink ones. Makes me wonder what other things come in colours I don't know about. And good on them, if I had my buying time again I'd get a socking great garden...ybe, stick them in the ground, the JapAns, they'll stick two fingers at you and take over your garden
Mine are in the worst area, damp, stony, not much soil and they've come back for a second go. At the other house, they were growing in between the paving slabs where it was dry and not much soil. Treat 'em mean. I do smile when rescues are rescued but I am so hurt by what people can do to animals, it makes my heart twist. You have a spectacular dog rose though...and rainbow! I did zoom, I thought on the roof bottom left? Might be wrong though...It's like a magic eye picture.
pp - yeah, I've seen those, they look so silly with their stork legs...and you've done a great job of describing why I never ran a marathon or even a half marathon or even a half half marathon....Farway, well done for rhubarb sampling...If you ever make too much crumble topping it keeps in the freezer.. Dead Plant Gulch ::snort::Rain here on and off, I was cat sitting last night so very little sleep had so may not venture out tomorrow, depends on how much sleep I get tonight [ or nana napping] and on my way home to buy my cats treats an Angel wings plant fell in my basket...I did notice to I can split it up to make more so that's a tomorrow job. I am pleased with myself for doing the same to a geum Rivale, means I now have five plants instead of one...result...I did pick up another freebieNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi8 -
Nice one Taff 😁
I'm going to have to get in on this.
Yup, what taff said about the j,anms, they would grow through the cracks in my paving too. Bone dry stoney area.
But they are a welcome site when it's a quiet time for flowers.
Got to cut and run.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

The rhubarb was worth the perseverance then eh Farway
Maybe was it sweeter cos it's only young...? <snort> at seeds in Dog Poo Border
Lots of curly leaves here too - my fruit trees are all infected with some nonsense or other, possibly. Well not my apple, it's doing grand. Lots of wee applettes just waiting for Sunday to drop...
Good to hear you had a nice time in Edinburgh ppI've always thought Musselburgh looked worth a trip (too many saturday mornings sat watching racing on CH4 ha haa!) 14k steps though
Bet you were glad to be home
You made that ‘our rooms are properly sound-proofed’ comment with a bit much glee there DustyYep rose has a name, it’s one of my Swish ones. It’s a Beale’s one called The Churchill Rose. It’s got beyond itself now tbh and the wind’s made a mess of it. I’ll have to do some major pruning later on…
I think my JapAns are long dead but I'll plany them anyway taff. They can go out the front and be safely ignored. I've only got a stony strip down the side of the fence but it's wondorous what grows there. I've Fox+Hounds/Fox+Flowers or something coming up again. They're cheeryThat's a fab bench you go there, honestly it's almost enough to make me wanna join facefook
Woohoo on the multi geum :clapping:
How's your rat doing 2p? Did you spray the place with JF?
Well it rained on and off yesterday. Went to check out the Dead Plant Society at morries, realised it was lunchtime, and decided to have lunch in their caff. That was a mistake - when did their food go so badly downhill?! Christ it was muck, (2x breakfasts) neither of us finished it and that's saying something. Himself is a greedy gannet with the stomach of an ox and an appetite of a lab - if it fits in it goes in. Really disappointed in them. So that's the end of morries (except for plants, fuel, and fags). I can still taste the metallic sausages now :boke:
OT not cold. Windy, but not like it was, and a bit sunny. Only 'til the rain comes this aft then it's back to Autumn. Yay!
Also, I got my tom forest planted up. I haven't got enough pots so looking about the place to see what'd do I spotted the bags for life that wm brought tiles and stuff round in. Went up to the bathroom window to get a good pic of them, and this is what I saw -
Big bu99er it was, and out in the daylight too *Shudder*
That'll do. Gotta go to work. Again.
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.7 -
To quote Major Gowan in Fawlty Towers, "A dirty rat, Bluey!"
Quick, reach for the JF and set phasers sprayers on 'Burger off!'
That's some tom forest you have there, too!Nice bench taff. I like your style with the recycling.... the front garden tiles and all that too.Tried for a preformed pond myself yesterday, but too slow.
It was a 50 mile round trip, anyway.
You must've had good reason to watch the marathon pp. The youngsters here went to Londinium for the 1/2 one a few weeks ago to support to a relative, not that she needed much encouragement. The above was the start of a longish post, with photos, but removing two words somehow removed most of today's contribution as well, and there's no time here to re-do.I'll try again tomorrow.
O.T. The sun hasn't got his hat on, and we're promised no respite from the rain today. That's OK, the hay fields need it."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity8 -
YoungBlueEyes said:No Dusty yesterday - has MrsD worked you into the ground? If you've fallen down the back of a flower bed, see if you can find @ArbitraryRandom and @the_lunatic_is_in_my_head in there and fetch them back will ya
In terms of the weather it was lovely in the run up to Easter so we booked two nights at Lake Vyrnwy Hotel but of course the weather turned at Easter, was lucky it didn't rain on the full day there, took a walk up to Rhiwagor Waterfall, saw the Giant's Hand
https://treecarving.co.uk/the-giant-hand-of-vyrnwy/
and pottered around the dam, enjoying an ice cream despite the weather.Far more picturesque than brilliant blue skies but would have enjoyed lazing the sun.
However worse than the weather was the illness, Sunday kid was ill (not too bad), Monday I was ill (all day on the sofa shivering), perked up when we got to the hotel and ate, Tuesday evening wife was ill (shivering in bed), perked up once we got home. So a mixed bag really.
Friday was the last day of school before half term here in Wales and Friday night it started to rain.... Was sitting in the garden yesterday and it was like winter, mist clinging to the top of the valley creating a snow globe effect to convince you the rest of existence has disappeared, bucketing it down with rain and 40mph winds, great!
Looks like it will dry up once school is back on and most of the stuff to do around here is outside, so, yay.
Hope everyone is well and the weather is fairing better where you are, I'll leave you with this shot of Cader Idris from a few weeks ago when it wasn't so miserableDustyevsky said:New GS is brownish.According to the midwife, DD was a model expectant mother and stayed calm, didn't grumble etc.
This time last week, she was still working at the store! We're missing the freebies already.
Heartfelt congratulations Dusty, such a amazing time, I hope everyone is in good healthIn the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces8
