Thank you so much @greenbee I will leave it for now. I am growing a berberis darwiini hedge against that ugly fence but this is in a section I cannot plant in due to concrete fence base. I have a lovely hypericum in the garden but do dig up all seedlings along with hundreds of tree saplings7

Forgetmenot never leaves you, it even followed me on a moveBut easy to pull out the surplus. It's this time of year along with the primroses when it looks just lovely. If you cut off the finished stems it will give a second flowering.

Mrs Dusty & I were married on an April Easter Sunday, so the retired old vicar, who was just place-holding for the new incumbent, wouldn't have to 'do' an extra day.
After a few days honeymoon in Devon, (we were broke then, too!
) we returned home to snow on the Friday. That would make the snowfall on 24th April. I recall the incongruity of walking under cherry blossom in the snow, even if it didn't last long.
Anyway, happy fiscally satisfying birthday for last Tuesday.I hope the meal on Sunday lives up to the good rep.
Here, if a village pub, well off the tourist radar survives, it's almost bound to be good.
Hope pp has enjoyed her mini-break too.

OK Rosemoor update. I posted the Winter Garden was being updated back in the autumn. Then, it was just a building site at its upper end. Now, the new planting has begun there:I was battling with the strong, sunshine here.
We couldn't go into this area to view it from the other side.
The lower part of the winter garden remains untouched, with the beeches and birches forming major structural elements. The Magnolia was easy enough to ID behind the shelter in this garden. I think the other flowering shrub on the right of the picture is a Pieris, but I'm happy to be corrected. I didn't think they grew that large?I'm out again today, which promises to be the warmest, before the weather reverts to more normal behaviour next week.

Nice & sunny, up early & out for first garden visit of the season to the volunteer borderBecause it's been so dry, no rain for a fortnight, I thought I should give the pots a fighting chance, and a bit of bush trimmingDuly trimmed Hot Lips and lavenders, plus dead headed some daffs, then watered the pots even though rain is due Sunday you can never be sure.Think I've identified the seedlings I thought could be sunflowers, now I think it is Borage, which makes sense because I had a self seeder last yearManaged to top dress the posh trailing fuchsias in the wall basketsDecided to try growing some early peas, not shoots, peas in pods. The pea shoots are doing well, only eaten a few so far, but plenty to come.I have some Kelvedon Wonder early peas, using as pea shoots, so I'll get some going on damp paper and then into pots & grow as plugs for transplanting later into large pots.I'll also sow a couple of courgettes that I should have done yesterdayI managed to sort out my Roku streaming thing, not updating.Thank heavens for the web, it's not something anyone would just find in a month of Sundays.Involves multiple mixed button presses on remote to access a "secret page", then toggle Data field from Beta to NormalNo one knows why it goes to Beta, it just does.Hardly intuitive, turns your Roku into a brick. Sort of a Kill Switch, I blame something or other.Today's pic, my aubretia. I bought it from Morries after seeing a picture on here of them trailing down a wall. 2p or Blue?Anyway, seems to have settled in, and I'm looking forward to it spreading aroundEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens8

Magnificent tree Wort!Do you get cherries? How do you protect them from the birds? My diddy one is blooming but I get black bugs that destroy the leaves and fruits. Stopped them last year but they'll be back so I need to keep a careful eye. No idea what they are.Been an afternoon still watering pots and pots. All soaked now so that should bring on the rain. And cleaning guttering which was filthy and the side alley that gets no attention. When leg and back working this is what I get to do.But it's been such a beautiful day with the birds singing and feeding in the garden, otherwise so peaceful I didn't mind just pootling.Oh and the £5 apple is trying to make leaves - and I've aquired some Spanish Bluebells somehow, not what I wanted although they are pretty.........They'll have to come out because there isn't room for them to spread here.

Sunny and warm enough to bring out 3 butterfly species - orange tip, green-veined white and large white (the latter sniffing around my brassicas
); plus this little beaut, rescued from a water tank...

2p the tree is ornamental only ,not fruiting.Been lazy on my days off, should really have done the wet and forget before the rain which is supposed to be coming.
I had to laugh at this on Social media
7am de ice the car
12 sunbathe
7 pm heating on 😂😂😂
pretty much sums up the weather.
wish my forget me nots would spread like that, Paspatur. Mine disappeared.I’ve bought more seeds just need to decide best time to put out? Would now be right if they are flowering as the will surely self seed as they die off 🤔 my primroses are now out in full force masses of them even though I thinned out a lot.
Dusty it does have a look of pieris but I can’t see any red tips, mine has already lost most of the white and I would imagine yours down there would be further along.
off to work now enjoy the weekend.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.8
