I have a few defaults on my credit file since 2016 December when will they go off off
my credit score is 520 it states it is very poor and needs room for improvement
I have two credit cards aqua and 118 but I got turned away for an iPhone last week from Three mobile. But in the last 4 years I've had a contract with O2 which I was paying 45 a month for and I have a current contract with EE which I pay £20 per month

A default will stay on your credit file for six years from the date of default, regardless of whether you pay off the debt, so December 2022. Remember your score is only something seen by you - you have to build a record of good financial management in order to qualify for better deals. It doesn't matter that you were paying £45 a month to O2 - Three will have different criteria - and on this occasion you didn't meet that criteria. Do you pay off your cards in full every month? Are you on the electoral roll? Is all your other CRA data correct and up to date?
