Hi all, new to this so I’m just going to put it out there.
Received a random letter from Barclays saying ‘Thank you for your recent mortgage application. We can confirm this application is now closed'.
Has anyone come across this by any chance? Thank you

Yes. It's a standard generated letter. It's not random.
Did you apply for a mortgage?1 -
Hiya! Thank you for your swift reply. Yes we are currently waiting as we went through a broker. Just wasn’t sure what the message in the letter was and have tried ringing but no one has picked up after 2 hours on hold. Would you know what it refers to at all? Appreciate you coming back to me. Such a stressful day0

Thank you for your comment. We have already tried to get in touch with broker, but it’s a Saturday. Only hoped whether someone else in the forum had received something similar and what the scenario was. Have a good weekend0

Sounds like a mistake and that they’ve closed your application :-( i know a few people on the nationwide thread had this too. Hopefully your broker can sort monday but must be so frustrating over the weekend :-(FTB- 90% LTV

@Wales2020 I know! Our broker even said he was confident that it would be fine and it was only sent 5 days ago. Try calling the bank but they couldn’t tell me and their mortgage line is closed. What an annoying letter0

Problem with automated systems is they only have to close your app to move to another product or similar due to their internal management and it will fire off a letter. I wouldnt read anything into it either way until you can get info on Monday. Try not to worry. it will not change anything and just ruin your weekend.1

@SJW1510 Hi may I ask where did you mum’s case end? I’ve just received the same letter from Barclays this morning which stressed me out a lot. I called them and also my broker obviously they didn’t know what’s going on and need to raise it with the support team. It’s so annoying0

If you go directly to Barclays for an agreement in principle an application is set up. If you then go to a broker for a Barclays application, the old application has to be closed down before the new one can proceed.I am a mortgage broker.
