Will multiple SIM-only contract applications affect my credit rating?

I took out a SIM-only contract with Vodafone last month via a cashback site (Affordable Mobiles) and I've been pretty impressed with the data speeds.

So now I want to take out another SIM-only contact with Vodafone (ideally via a cashback site again) to pop in an old handset and use as my home broadband, since it works out so much cheaper than fixed-line broadband in my area.

What are the chances that they'll give me a second contract? If they refuse, will it hurt my credit file? Is it possible for them to refuse a SIM-only contract? What if I apply via a different cashback site? (Though as far as I can tell, the contract is with Vodafone directly)

    Multiple applications (3 or more) will look like you're desperate, but two isn't a problem.

    I'm not sure if you'll get a cashback deal if you're an existing customer though.
  • Just a heads up usually Vodafone will want you to have 3 clear bills paid before adding a second line
  • I recently took out a Vodafone line with mobiles.co.uk fully expecting to get a credit check but didn't. 
    I'm have been a Vodafone customer for a few years now and am coming towards the end of my latest contact term. Long story short, the upgrade offers were terrible (for sim only) so found the same deal on mobiles.co.uk (they're part of Dixons Carphone) who offer cash back via redemption.
    So as part of the ordering process, they ask if you already have a Vodafone account (so I said yes, and shared info). and lo and behold, all that happened is the new line was added to my existing account. So just an additional line on my existing bill.
    So chances are, if the sites your looking at do the same, you might find you don't get the second search done if you let them know you already have a Vodafone account. The cash back sites make their money getting new connections for the networks.
    Although worth considering DebtHurricane's point about Vodafone wanting 3 clear bills first.

    So there is no search in any of your 3 credit files?
