LG smart TV

Options
I bought the TV from Argos on 15 May 2020. On 15 September I returned from my daughter's to found picture not working properly. Argos told me to contact LG. LG say I have damaged it. Contacted CAB and was advised to send recorded delivery letter and email plus FB message to Argos giving them 14 days to reply. After chasing, they eventually replied and said I need an engineer report. This tv is only 4 months old! but both LG and Argos will not accept I was sold goods of a poor standard. I feel like giving up but this is what they hope I will do.

What do you mean "picture not working properly"?
  • Screen is black on middle
  • So only have a picture around the edge of a black screen

CAB would advise you that this is correct under Consumer Rights .

So which clause of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 states that an "engineer's report" is required?

So has anyone actually looked at the TV and determined (in their opinion) that the TV has been damaged and it’s not a manufacturing fault , or are they making this decision without even looking at the TV ? ,if the TV has just developed a fault , and it’s less than 12 months old  ( in fact even that can be challenged under EU consumer protection laws , arguably its longer ) then presumably its under guarantee and should be repaired or replaced.
