Can you lay artificial grass over concrete slabs

as above, we’ve an area of lower garden that’s approx 8m x 6m that’s currently paved with old paving slabs. They’re still solid, we’re laid well but ugly. Is there any way we can lay artificial grass on top, with digging them up? I know it’s usually type 1, then compacted sand then the grass, just wondered if there is any kind of outdoor underlay type membrane/drainage system that would allow drainage and offer some cushioning between the existing patio and the artificial grass?
also, is there a preferred/better brand of artifical grass?
