Storage heaters aren't storing heat overnight anymore

Options
hello im slightly baffled.. as the weather has got rather cold recently I had switched on my storage heater in living room only switched on the overnight switch and had input on medium .. it worked for a few days had a lovely warm room but now without touching anything it has gone stone cold. I've checked if the boost and fan work (using day time elec) and they seem to be fine. Has anyone got any suggestions to what on earth has gone wrong ha help!!

Quick checks- has it blown a fuse ? or is it on a dedicated circuit at the consumer unit ?

    Welcome to the forum.
Turn the wick up?  If it's Dimplex Quantum or similar, check that all the programming and settings are correct, e.g. that it doesn't think you're on holiday.  If it also has a separate E7 circuit, check that the circuit breaker on the consumer unit hasn't tripped.

Two possibilities: the element or circuit supplying the off peak input has a fault, or the E7 side of your metering has a fault.
Do you also have an immersion heater or other NSH's running on E7? If these are OK, then it's going to be the former, and not a general metering fault.
Does the neon come on on the isolator when it's supposed to be charging?

The usual thing with storage heaters would be a blown fuse or failed thermostat.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

With the input set on medium, maybe the ambient room temperature isn't low enough to activate the heating process. Before going to bed, turn the input dial from min to max, at some point you will hear a click; the input must be turned beyond the click in the direction of max, in order for the heater to heat up.
