Hi
Wonder if anyone can help. I had a problem with my anti virus last nite and allowed them to have remote access to my PC. They have resolved that issue but now im having two problems.
Sites are saying cookies arent enabled when i try to log in - ive gone through all the normaltuff - ie security settings etc but cant get round this problem
Part 2 is im getting security messages saying "revocation information for the security certificate is not available" - pretty much all the time
Im not sure if last night they have changed some settings
Any ideas?

Which web browser do you use? Does the issue occur if you use a different one?0

Hi
I use AOL and IE - i have the same problems with both?0 -
That is strange... Assuming the browser settings are OK, I can only think that you must have some kind of separate cookie blocking software or maybe some malware installed. Have you tried scanning for malware with Spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html)?0

Try this in IE
Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced
Under the Security section, untick the box next to
Check for server certificate revocation*
Close IE and open it again and see if this fixes the problem.

Tried both the suggestions above to no avail
However the problem with the security certificate seems resolved but the cookie problem still exists meaning i am unable to buy things from many sites.
Any further suggestions?0 -
You're really only using one browser then. AOL just puts its own front end round IE.gazza975526570 wrote: »I use AOL and IE - i have the same problems with both?
Not a direct solution to your problem I know, but you could always install Firefox or Opera.0 -
In IE, make sure that the status bar is visible (go to the View menu and there should be a tick by the "Status bar" option). Then visit a site that uses cookies, do whatever you need to get the "cookies are not enabled" error message...
Can you see a "no entry" or "prohibited" sign (red circle with a line through) on the status bar with an eye behind it (something like this:
)?
If so, double-click on the icon, and you will see what is being blocked. Right-click on this text and choose "allow" to resolve the problem.
If there isn't anthing listed, and you are using IE7, try again without using any IE add ons: Go to Start / Programs / Accessories / System Tools / Internet Explorer (no Add-ons).
If that doesn't help, then I'd be pretty confident that it's not IE that is causing the problem. What antivirus program do you use? Do you know if it filters cookies or if you have any other web/cookie filtering software?0 -
On IE i switched off the prohibited sign but the problem still occurs.
I currently use Norton (yeah i know!!!) but have tried disabling this so it isnt blocking them.
I have tried a clean boot on XP - that didnt work.
Tried the no add ons solution - no joy.
I have contacted my ISP - they cannot help. Gone back to symantec that caused the problem initially - hopeless!!
In the interim ive installed Firefox - and the problem isnt ocurring on here. I may well end up sticking with this however id still be keen to try to find the cause of the problem?0 -
I'd stick with firefox, its more stable, secure and less likely to experience the random !!!!!! moments that all MS software seems to suffer with...
Plus it has all kinds of nifty add ons for tabbed browsing, in browser searching & all manner of other cool stuff! Go to tools > Addons then click extensions0
