EE upgrade or additional line?

Hi
I find myself frugal with spend for myself however there is always a conflict of interest when it comes to new tech. So if I can save in my mission to satisfy both instincts I have the following dilemma. I have been on a SIM only contract (20GB data that I share with my mum) for a couple of years now and would really like to upgrade to the S20 5G. EE have offered me £43 for 100GB data as an upgrade, no upfront fee. Total cost £1,032. However I can get an additional line (it would be my 3rd line so attracts a 10% discount) for £38.70 for 10GB data, no upfront fee. Total cost £928.80. I don't recall ever using more than 10GB so really 100GB is excessive. The most obvious problem with the additional line is that the new phone would not have my number and I would definitely close the lead account and lose my number. Although I think I could put my number on PAYG sim with another provider and then move it back to EE onto the new line.
Can anyone offer me any advice/guidance here? My hubby offers the helpful "Well it's a lot more data for only a few quid more" and my dad's (RIP) words of wisdom intercept my thought process to say "it's not a bargain if you don't need it". I don't need the additional 90GB currently.
Thanks in advance
