PayPal £10 offer

I have an active PayPal account which I use regularly. I also have an old account that I haven't used in a while. My OH has an account he doesn't use. We both received emails offering £10 if we activate an offer and purchase something before the 30th. We tried with both links and it says we are not eligible. I contacted PayPal who claim that its spam and they never sent the offer. I have seen on other forums that this offer has been sent to a lot of people. Has anyone on here had this email. Has it worked. Or is PayPal being a bit misleading

What do you mean "has it worked?" It's a scam. Why do you think PP lied to you?

Because there is a discussion on hotdeals and some people say the link worked for them and others said it didn't. It appears that molerat had success . I don't think PayPal has lied as such but normally I wouldn't trust it. Seems strange that we both get the offer to a lapsed PayPal account. Same email, and more than once.

I do hope that you have changed your Paypal log in details since clicking on the links.
They may well not be phishing attempts but then again they may be and you might have given out your Paypal passwords.

Yes passwords updated I know it's good to change them every so often so this was a good excuse

This is the message they sent me. So my old account is not eligible. But my working account I didn't get the email so that isn't eligible either. Never mind.
So not sure who is eligible

Probably people with old accounts that do not have another currently active account.

I created an account years ago and have received the £10 offer on that also, slight problem is that its a
made up name with no linked bank details.  Not lost and not gained and the world keeps spinning.
