Electric bill from previous tenant

I am hoping someone can give me some advice on this. I moved in to my current rented property in Feb last year. The previous tenant left and there is still the final electric bill which wasn’t paid.
I kept sending the letters back to the company but then they started sending “to the current occupier”.
I have contacted the company and even sent a copy of my tenancy agreement to prove when I moved in.
Since then the debt keeps getting sold on and they have my email address which keeps getting passed on and I keep getting demands for the money.
I even gave them the name of the estate agents and their details so they could get more info and I am getting contacted as an individual and also being addressed as the estate agent. I have replied so many times to say they have the wrong person but they won’t give up.
What else can I do? I don’t know where else to send them and am I liable for this?
Many thanks in advance.

You are not liable for a previous tenant's bill.
Lodge a complaint with the ICO and the Energy Ombudsman - The former may well do nothing, but the latter should be able to put a stop to the letters.

If you have the name and address of the landlord, send that to the energy company.  The landlord may have a liability for the debt but you certainly do not.

The energy company are trying it on and are now harassing you for a bill you do not owe

Personally I would send them a cease and desist letter with copies of your proof again , if they continue to harass you , keep a record of everything and send them a lba for harassment

Dont ask them nicely , tell them to leave you alone
