Insurance for a phone on contract?

I just got a new iphone 11 with O2, it is on a 24 month contract and so if I get insurance with insurance2go is the phone covered as I don't technically own it yet? I just wonder, when they ask when did I buy the phone that I actually haven't yet.

You have the phone now  < the network is 24 months .

But why insure and at what cost ??

No the phone is on contract as is the airtime plan. I did not buy the phone outright. 
The insurance covers loss, theft,  damage etc. It is ~ £100 for the year

Never thought about it, but my stepdaughters had contract phones *(paid by me!),  and there was never an issue claiming on the insurance ( a few times too )  All I needed was the IMEI and the delivery/dispatch note from when I got it. So many phones are on a contract, but I'd be surprised if this was a reason to exclude from insurance
