I just had an unknown call at work and answered it with "Hello" and it sounded like a radio competition. They didn't say who it was and just hung up. I probably don't want to know, but can someone put me out of (or probably increase) my misery and tell me who it might have been?

It probably was just a scam call. I get them all time, where they just hang up. Also to my knowledge there's no comps (apart from maybe ITV Spin to Win) where you have to answer the phone with a certain phrase.0

I can only hope! I know there is Capital "Give me the cash", but I can't find that one on the forum, so don't think I can have entered it, if it is even running at the moment. I'm sure they said my name and then said something like onto the next caller though.Nictastic said:It probably was just a scam call. I get them all time, where they just hang up. Did you enter This Mornings Spin to Win as the first called said 'Hello' and not the phrase for the day?1

Surely any real competition would have someone say something along the lines of "sorry you didn't win". I know the radio comps do - I doubt anyone would hang up straight away, so definitely sounds like a spammy call. Thanks to all posters :A0

My original explanation was written in haste - they didn't say who it was, but they did say "Oh, no" and my name and then said "next caller" and then hung up. My friend has since confirmed she watched it and Holly said "Bad luck" and my name, so it was definitely the ITV comp. Apparently the winner got £750 and a goody bag. My idiocy is their gain! Oh well, onwards and upwards!jaibaby said:Surely any real competition would have someone say something along the lines of "sorry you didn't win". A lot of competitions ask for a phone number. However I don't know in people's experience how often they are contacted by phone to tell them they are a winner?September Wins

Yes, and I've convinced myself that the person who did win needed it more than me, so I can count it as my good deed for the day! Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things. :rotfl:0 -
Hi Ooky. I have just now watched the 1/10/20 this morning on itv hub. Holly and Phil first caller on the spin to win was a lady, she said Hello and not the phrase Hi de Hi. Phil said lady’s name as ‘Sorry Jenna’. Next called was guy called James and he said phrase and won £750. Sorry if you were the first one called Jenna, I have been trying for months, at least they do actually ring real people.1
