We put (summer) car on SORN last winter
Back on the road on 1st May (taxed it for 6 months) and luckily MOT was extended, so we didn't have one of those to bother with. MOT runs out next week so will SORN it again then till next spring.
If we tax and MOT it on 01/04/2021 (12 months tax) then if we SORN it on 31/10/2021 can we claim back 5 months tax ... or not?

Yes, as long as you can SORN it on a Sunday. You don't claim the tax back, any unused full months are refunded automatically.

I'd MOT it now, then all you have to do on 1st April is tax it.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

But, if we do that, it will need another in Sept 2021, whereas if we wait ......................... 😉

It would need one every April, and if you can't get one, you can't use the car. Get one now, and subsequent years get it 30 days before it is due.

You can get an MOT with it SORN, but you need insurance.

This is, remember, MSE ... ;) .... so, as we've never had a problem getting an MOT (*) I'll keep my £40 in my pocket for now :D:smiley:
