Aaaargh Fleas

We have a new rescue dog, she’s been with us 12 days and is settling in fine. She’s always been a bit scratchy, but today I found adult fleas on her. We got Frontline plus and a carpet/ bedding spray from Pets at Home. We’ve had dogs before but never seen fleas, can anyone tell me what to expect? Bit disappointed in the rescue, to be honest, think she should have been treated before she came, she’s not been with other dogs yet (she’s a bit reactive, probably made worse by having to be on a lead)

We had a visit from someone last year and their puppy gave my dog fleas 😱. The vet gave me a chewable tablet for him and they were dead within a day.We don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.1

You are better getting flea treatment from the vet or a prescription to buy on line as not all treatment work in all areas. I dont know what spray you got but our vet reccomends Indorex which is pricey but I believe is available from pets at home. I would spray around everywhere the dog has been including their bedding. For future reference I have a very experienced dog owning friend who swears by a spoonful of cider vineger in the drinking water. I havent tried it but pass it on to try or ignore.

Hoover everywhere thoroughly- along skirting boards, down the sides of chairs and under cushions. Fleas lay there eggs in dark crevises.
I washed my dogs blankets in flea shampoo.1 -
Thanks, the frontline and carpet spray were on recommendation of the vet in Pets at home.Downshifted

Indorex, if that is what you have bought works. Ive never treated any animal with monthly flea treatments , and have had fleas in the home just once in 30 years - Indorex worked. I used near enough a full tin on a largish 2 bedroom house making sure I didn't miss anywhere - under beds, skirtings, wood floors, under and behind furniture, and left the house for a couple of hours. After that I just sprayed the house every 6 months1
