Home Protect.... (not) insurance

After many years of paying a premium I was informed my boiler was not covered as it had not been serviced every year. I called up as a potential new customer and the salesman assured me it did not need to be. When I apprised him of the situation, apparently he had read the wrong contract, the only problem is all the contracts require a yearly service! Looks like very dubious practices to me.

Perhaps as you say dubious? but on the very first part of their site it states:

"Do I need to service my boiler regularly?

It is a condition of our policy that you carry out any inspections or services in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions (e.g. arrange an annual service). Doing so will also reduce the likelihood of an emergency situation occurring."

I would assume any new customer can get cover, as long as from policy start date it is then serviced yearly?

Of course, they can, so yet again another case of someone trying to call something a scam, that really isn't.
