BA extends voucher scheme into October - shall we wait to claim?

Hiya, apologies if this has been covered elsewhere. We've been keeping an eye on BA's voucher policy as we were due to fly to Orlando to see family on 18 October.
Today they've updated it to cover October flights: https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/information/incident/coronavirus/latest-information#faqvoucher
The voucher can be used up to April 2022 - while we hope we'd be able to travel by then, there is so much uncertainty at the moment we'd prefer to have the money refunded. Do we need to wait until the flight is actually cancelled before we can claim a refund, or can we do it now? (If it's not cancelled of course we can still claim the voucher as a backup until check in closes so quite relaxed about that)
Many thanks in advance!

the only way you are getting a refund is if they cancel or you booked a refundable ticket. if neither of those then voucher is your outcome. I'd wait it out.1

Three weeks out I'd be astonished if they didn't cancel the flight to Orlando within a matter of days. They are not flying there at the moment and this coupled with the UK/USA bans ensure it is a dead cert you will get your money back.0

Yeah that's what I'm thinking - they're only due to start flying there on 12 Oct and can't see any restrictions being lifted before then... Cheers folks.0
