5 civilian personnel in work are employed by a civilian company contracted to the MOD. The 5 of us are in Lue of soldiers (and cheaper), but the Squadron is disbanding. The solders are being posted away and the 5 civvies have been given verbal confirmation that we will be made redundant as of 31st Dec. We have yet to receive official notice as there is conflict between the Commercial dept and HR of the company that employs us. Commercial believe that the agreement may be turned around and HR are ready to start the consultation and notification. There will be no U-turn as the Squadron is closing down.

Here are the questions:
1. If official notification is not given tomorrow (1st Oct) does that termination date move to the right by relevant days or does it incur another month?.
2. Does anybody have awareness with that because it’s MOD that the cap on 1.5times the weekly salary is actually 2 times. (Most people at work seem to think in this environment it’s 2 times, I’m not convinced). I don’t have a contract some 2 years later despite asking and emailing a request for one.

    1. Assuming they have to give you 3 months notice then it will move to the right as required to give 3 months

    2. Since you don't work for the MOD but a "civilian company contracted to the MOD" their rules on redundancy payment are irrelevant (unless you were TUPE'd over from the MOD). What counts is your contract, since it is silent then you will be looking at statutory redundancy which has the 1.5x cap
