Wedding balance payment

My daughter was due to get married in June 2020. All her balances were due around February so, to give them a few more months to get the money together I paid ALL the balances by BACS transfer..... Obviously the wedding was cancelled early May, initially re-booked for September 2020, but has been re-booked again for 9/6/2021. I have since found out she hadn't taken out wedding insurance. We obviously don't know if the wedding is safe and how many, if any of her bookings will remain in business. What are our rights/ what can we do to protect the payments, reduce risk of losing what we have paid?

Comments

  • Nothing now. BACS transfer gives you no protection and the lack of insurance cuts off another route.

You would be reliant on the administrators of any given company, but that's unlikely to yield more than a token payment, if that.
