Car showroom goes back on a deal and want more money
Options
Last week a friend bought a new car on PCP and signed the forms detailing the monthly payments with the finance company. The car showroom salesman also signed the forms. My friend now has the car in their possession.
Now the car salesman has come back to my friend saying they made a mistake, the payments are too low and they need to increase the payments.
Does my friend have a legal right to say "not my problem" to the salesman as they both signed the documents.
Any help would be great, thanks.

The sale of the car is complete and finance agreed. I can't see how the dealer can have anything to do with increasing the monthly payments as this is in the hands of the finance provider, not them. I would urge your friend to contact the finance provider to clarify what the situation is.0

What is the magnitude of the change being requested?0

I wonder if between the original finance check being done & the actual completion finance, something has changed in relation to your friends credit history. I worked in a dealership where someone was offered finance for £xxx a month, but after handover the salesman didn't send the paperwork off to the finance house straight away & when he did, it came back as a decline for the customer! Turned out after having the initial check done, they went & got a loan for a kitchen & it declined them.0

Is it a change that should have been obvious and covered under E&OE?
For examples, the sum of deposit plus monthly payments plus balloon payment does not equal "total to be paid"?0 -

It matters because a £1/month difference isn't the same as a £100/month difference. £42/month increase is fairly major though (presumably, since we don't know how much the finance is).
Legally; it's been paid for and you've taken delivery so it's too late and you've no obligation to pay the difference unless they can prove you've done something fraudulent.
