Royal Mail - What A Joke!

Anyone else noticed Royal Mail being super speedy with their deliveries?  I've sold 2 items on eBay recently.  Both were posted 2nd class (separate days) after 3pm and they were delivered by noon the next day!  It was just normal bog standard 2nd class as well.  Why bother with 1st class when they deliver 2nd class this fast!  Both buyers left me really nice feedback too which is a nice change.

I know a lot of the times we complain about Royal Mail but bloody hell, well done to them for their efficiency.

PS.  The discussion title was just to make you all look, hahaha.

I post all my parcels 2nd class, usually around 3pm.  About 50% are delivered the next day - I know that because of the feedback left the following day.  The rest I don't know when they are delivered as I do not receive feedback for all items.  Very few of my items are sent tracked so there is no way of finding out if they have reached.  As I am pleased with the fast delivery of 2nd class parcels, I never send anything 1st class.

My post is all over the place, I assume it depends on the RM at the receiving end area. A small parcel to my son in a high risk area took 5 working days 2nd class. Something sent across London 2nd class (large letter) took a week, yet something sent up North arrived next day using 2nd class.
On facebook I have several items still undelivered from last Wednesday and Thursday, but also some delivered Saturday that I only posted Friday - all second class and all various parts of the country. (my LL have delivery confirmation the same as standard parcels) .

During the pandemic, I've had some odd ones. I send 1st, 1st recorded, SD, 2nd, 2nd recorded.
Had a few 1st packages which took a week yet 2nd that also turned up the following day. Very odd indeed as not typically like that pre-Covid.

Our local sorting office has had an outbreak of covid. We haven't had post since last Thursday. The news said there were at least 7 off. So if you were sending me anything the chances of it arriving next day are remote.

As I have posted previously. 2nd class makes no difference in deliveries.
It does for network as items travel through.
If network (eg trucks, trains, flights) are at capacity then 1st class (1C)is prioritised over 2nd (2C) class.
Same with mail centre sorting/dispatch. If theres is a risk to the 1C product, then they will put 2C aside to meet 1C target spec.

Oh that makes sense then.  I was just surprised with how efficient they had become all of a sudden, which I am not complaining about.

I wish our post was arriving that fast. One ebay parcel to me has disappeared entirely and another is now overdue.

I sent a tracked parcel last Sunday.....(I know it couldn't go out til Monday) but it's only showing as accepted at a post office.
"Your item has been posted at a Post Office. As you've used our Royal Mail Signed For service, the next update you'll see is after we've attempted to deliver to the recipient.".  It has not shifted since.....I have the reference number but I am concerned that no delivery attempts have been made...  I do ask buyers to allow more than 3 days for 2nd class but feel by 6 days it should have at least attempted delivery....

Quite often signed for doesn't update even though it has been delivered.  I would leave it be until your customer complains and asks where their parcel is.  Don't give them the idea that they can open an INR claim!

That’s happened to me lots of times. They are usually good at refunding you the amount you paid in stamps if you ring up.
