Tandem is a legitimate business and as Bowlhead posts above this could be a genuine deal. However, the people who have contacted you and asked for information and for you to deposit money might be nothing to do with the genuine Tandem. So: use Google or this site to find out how to contact the real Tandem (do NOT reply to their emails to you nor contact them through the app you downloaded) and confirm that you would be sending money to the genuine organisation, not to a bunch of scammers who have borrowed the name.

tandem are a legitimate bank. I had their credit card for some time whilst it was lucrative. As soon as they started charging it became a bit pointless so got out.
It would sound like tandem to trial an app and invite people to do so. However as others have said it would be wise to proceed with caution
Call tandem bank up to check it is all legitimate. Their number is  0203 370 0970
Alternatively you can go on their website and engage in their online chat (but its more a messaging service and can take some time)

    Good luck.

    Hi John,

    Thanks for contacting Tandem,

I can confirm the email you have received is a beta app invite for the new Tandem app, which we have offered our customer to sign up to, and receive 1.4% AER on a 1 year fixed savings account, or 3% AER for the first 100 customers.

To participate in the beta you'd need to download the app as per instructions in the email and register for a new account.

If you have any other questions in regards to the beta, please do not hesitate to reach our dedicated beta team by email on queries@tandem.co.uk

Hope this information helps, and clarifies. Meanwhile, have a great day!

So I was looking at 1 year fixed rate saving accounts on the main MSE website a few weeks ago and the best at the time was a bank I'd never heard of Tandem offering 1.3%, I went to the website and entered a waiting list for their new app, first 100 people who applied to this would be offered 3% for the 1 year fixed rate saving account, unlikely I would picked but they offered 1.4% to those that were unsuccessful, so I signed up.

Today I was informed that I was one the first 100 and that I had 24 hours from receiving a later email from the development team (App Center Team) with a link to download the app and open an account to qualify to the rate. Minutes later I received and an email from the App Center Team <no-reply@mail.appcenter.ms
     with this:
Sam Burgess from Tandem Bank, invited you to test Tandem Prod Android for Android on App Center.

Sam Burgess uses App Center to test apps. By creating an app centre account and testing apps, you'll be helping developers build better apps.

This linked to a github account, I downloaded and installed the ap. Everything seems legit but I have no idea about what's going on under the hood of this app and I'd never heard of Tandem bank and it's now disappeared from MSE recommendation list (although this could be because the new 1 year fixed rate on the Tandem site has dropped to 0.6%). I was wondering could I be being scammed, you know what they say if somethings to be good to be true it probably is and the 24 hours pressure to open your account is worrying to me.
They need more information from me to open my account and I'm waiting on a member of their team to contact me.  So do you think I should provide everything they need as quickly as possible?

Did you go ahead with this? I’m considering a 1 year fix using the beta app but have the same concerns as you.
