Bensons for beds not offer protection

Me and my partner bought a bed and mattress spending £1400 in December 2019 from bensons for beds. A family member then bought the exact same bed about 2 weeks ago and was offered “bed guard” which insures your bed and mattress from anything from stains to faults with the structures etc. We was never offered this and would have taken it if we had of being as we spent so much money. After calling bensons they said their orders are “locked” after the date of delivery and nothing could be done. Being a fault on their behalf is there something that can be done as we never knew “bed guard” existed and would have definitely taken it if we had being offered it.

I'd imagine the reason it can't be added months after the purchase is because something will go wrong with the bed/mattress, the customer will call Bensons & then add the protection & wait a week or 2 before claiming.
I can't comment on why you weren't offered it when you bought the goods.1 -
I can't see you have any entitlement to the insurance at this stage, even if you were happy to pay for it. Are you sure it was even available back in December?
I wouldn't worry about it. I suspect that if you look at the terms of the insurance your family member has, it's probably got a list of exclusions so long as to make it almost impossible to claim on.0 -
Looks like your sister has been missold.Bensons for Beds guarantee to repair or replace any part of a bed deemed to be defective due to faulty materials or workmanship free of charge for a period of 5 years
We won’t cover:- Excessive wear and tear or times when care instructions haven’t been followed.
- Accidental damage after our delivery team have left.
- Soiled products (it’s worth using a mattress protector).
- Items bought when reduced for clearance (these are covered by our 12 month guarantee). Ask in-store for details.
Tbh I don't think their guarantee is all that since it gives you less rights than you have under statute.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Unholyangel - OP is not talking about the 5 year guarantee she is referring to a product called "Bed Guard" which is referred to in a further line of text immediately after the bulleted "We won't cover:" points you posted:-
"However, if you purchase our optional BedGuard plan before your bed set is delivered you will be covered, because accidents do happen!" I
However for obvious reasons it can't be purchased after delivery and there is no regulatory or legal requirement for Bensons to have informed the OP of it's availability at the time of purchase.

You need a different type of "protection" for accidents in bed 😉1
