Why would you do that?...... Have you problems with your married name.....

Normally they will find out your married name anyway and score you on that too. If you are hiding something you will obtain a CIFAS warning. Not great!

Don't do it. It's basically fraud and as Zebedee says you will end up with a CIFAS warning marker - you definitely won't get credit then.

Can you give us an idea of why you were contemplating this?

  • Basically I'm at my wits end and am desperately trying to find ways to get out of debt. We have a mortgage, a loan and 15 years worth of built up debt. We also have 4 kids. Our lifestyle is far from extravagent - we never go out. We've just had low incomes and have got into debt by trying to give our kids a half decent life and keep them on a par with their mates. I just want to see light at the end of the tunnel. I want to pay off our debts and start again and have an acceptable standard of living instead of feeling a failure. I'm just looking at all the options (there don't seem to be many!) remortgage, debt management, bankruptcy, or using a credit card to live and my wages to pay off debt. Don't want to do anything illegal, just desperate to see a way out of this without putting my kids through misery. It all feels so bleak I just don't know where to start and with Christmas looming I'm out of my mind with worry and misery.

Can I suggest you read/post on these two boards - Debt-Free Wannabe and Dealing with Debt
You will find many people who are in or have been in similar situations and they will be able to help you with their own experiences.

    Hello!

    First thing.....

    :grouphug:

    Second thing......

Debt Free Wanabee board...... You've been summond;)

Forget more debt to pay off debt and getting tied in with consolidation and re-mortgaging! These companies aint interested in helping you. They want your house when you cant pay anymore (most schemes/scams are secured on your home) Repo's are set to go up 40% next year and its because of these companies.

So when you hear Carol Vorderman or some berk from Norton Finance say "Consolidate into sensible monthly payments, by the way homeowners only" you know who to not call (-:

I really do feel for you. I know, as I am sure do many on this site what it feels like to realise that you may be in a cul-de-sac with no way out. First of all, there always is, and the second thing is, you are not alone. When I discovered this site, it was like somebody turned on the light, the amount of support and comfort the posts on this forum can create should never be underestimated. You dont mention in your post how old your kids are. If they are young, ie primary school, you may well find you can still give them a great selection of xmas gifts on a shoestring, without them batting an eyelid. If not and they are a little older, is telling them the situation a possibility? If they know WHY they may not be getting the latest computer game that they have asked for, they may well be much more understanding, not to mention the fact that a more utilitarian christmas can be so much fun, simple things, family, games. Much more festive than a frenzy of wrapping paper and telly. Please keep us updated on how you get on.

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.
