Ryanair nor refunding cancelled flights

PLEASE HELP.
We had our flights cancelled way way back in May for our scheduled flights in early July to Portugal.  I have now called Ryanair 8 times and I keep getting told that the refund will come in time.  This is insane and unfair as we need to money.  What can I say the next time I call Ryanair to ensure they pay us back rather than being fobbed off yet again.  I guess small claims court will have to be the last option but that means spending more much-needed money.
Any help would be amazing!

How did you pay? Your bank/card provider might be willing to help with a chargeback/Section 75 claim.  (although for me that caused its own issues)

Small Claims would be a last resort, and is slightly more complicated with them being an Irish company.

Other than doing as bagand96 suggests all you can do is wait although your argument you “need” the money doesn’t really count for much!  The money was spent anyway. Had you got on the flights the money was gone and your situation would still be same
so when you do get refunded - eventually- it will be a bonus.  👌
