Morning all you earlybirds. Dogwalking done, birds fed ,breadmaker doing it's thing so time for another cuppa and a browse. Hope all your aches and pains ease soon.We had roast beef etc yesterday.I usually slow cook it but as it was from the butchers , I put it in the oven, then my brother rang for a chat.....50 mins later I checked it & where I'd seared it it looked a bit burnt &I forgot I hadnt put the roasties in, so it was nearly a disaster but ok in the end. Plenty left for another time!I really need to sort our bedroom today and the baskets of clothes. Yesterday we decided we were going to take out the small log burner in the front room and put in one that looks similar but is electric, which will come on Saturday. I just want something to pop on quickly if it gets chilly when we're watching tv at night, it tends to get too hot with the logs. We still have the big one in the back room, the all in one kitchen/dining/conservatory which is great in winter as it's open plan and keeps it all warm and DH will still get his real flames fixDS is going to put the small one in his house. He has said he's going to move out in November, just a few last bits to sort , mainly outside. We had to go and inspect yesterday as he'd had a sofa and armchair delivered in the morning, it's looking great, just needs beds ordered now.Right, on with the day! Have a good one x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)12

Morning all, thanks for starting taff.
I have been up for hours and washload 2 is chugging round, first load on the line plus some handwashing. I did garden jobs yesterday and not sure what I want to do today, I might stay indoors mostly because it is very cold, just looked at my phone and it says 0°. If it warms up later will go for a walk.
Hope your ankle feels better soon taff. I managed to bash mine with a hammer last week but only a glancing blow, broke the skin but not the bone. I was bashing up some rotten wood for woodchips. Did some more yesterday without injury.
dp1 I think your tomatoes might not ripen now but green tomato chutney is nice.
Hope everyone has a good day, keep warm.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here but very cold too socks and jumpie again todayDD has had to go out to a visit I do worry about her going into schools she is taking all precautions so hopefully she will be ok.
The wm is nearly finished so I will hang that out today and the kitchen has been cleared and the dw emptied and re stacked. Its roast beef for dinner so I need to prepare the veg and spuds, I might make a cauli cheese to go with it as it will be warming for when OH gets in i will also do the yorkshires this morning, yorkshire puddings are my most favorite thing to eat so much so that it would be my last meal if I was on death rowso I always make extra.
Dogs to walk later and maybe a nap as I need to recharge by afternoon, I have finished the Fall on Netflix (brilliant) and am now on Away which is about a woman on the first trip to mars, I didnt think I would like it but its also brilliant and quite compulsive viewing.
Right better get on, I am not on the lock down bench atm but it sounds like its becoming quite a party, is there wine ???
Have good days all xx12 -
As I type it is still morning. Just. By the time I have finished it won't be morning at all, in fact at my present rate of typing it might be tomorrow. Anyway, Greetings.
Nanny, I've been tickled hearing your plans for Barbie's wardrobe. Takes me back to when my friend was horrified at the prices asked for the cheap, mass produced clothes on offer for her daughter's Barbie. So, for Christmas she made an exquisite set of clothes, she was a brilliant needlewoman and these clothes were works af art. Her daughter was disappointed. All she wanted was the same cheap tat that all her friends had.
The sun is shining here although there is a distinct chill in the air. Am hoping that the line of washing I have out will dry, as the rest of the week looks a bit dodgy.
RedRuby, you are like my DS2. My DIL is an inspired cook and when they first got together she was horrified that whatever she cooked, he said how nice it was and it only needed Yorkshire puddings to make it perfect. Beef Bourguignonne, Coq au vin and yorkshires suits him just fine.
There, I knew this post was doomed. I've had a telephone call in the middle of it and the person on the other end was intent on regaling me with what her neighbours were doing in their garden. A blow by blow account, I got.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Just be happy. It drives people crazy.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Have trouble remembering how to fly.12 -
Sunny Chez Nous, so the arbour is open this afternoon... all welcome.I am trying out making acorn flour. We have four oak trees in the garden, lovingly planted as acorns by DDs 25 years ago. This year has seen an abundance of acorns. OK two squirrels too. I swept them up, removed dud, wormy, unripe ones and dried them. Acorns, not the squirrels! Bashed them about with a hammer when they were dry and then soaked the kernels in many changes of water over several days to remove the bitter tannins. Now they are drying in the dehydrator ready to be roasted. The bitterness has gone. I hope it will be a success... I do like foraging even if it is only in our garden. Edible weeds bulk out our salads so I hope roasted acorns turn out OK. The Jack in the Beanstalk has produced more beans and the cherry tomatoes will be good for tea.Whilst we are not in London borough we are inside the M25 so I hope we miss a lock down. As it is we have not socialised indoors with friends or neighbours, but would miss meeting up with daughters in our bubble. Most of all I miss my social activities even though some are now on Zoom, it just isn't the same, is it.Cheerful note.... sorted out my fabric stash... ready for the darker evenings.9
