Double booking for holiday let - where do I stand?

It was definitely a booking confirmation - and the later processed between the agent and us were as if it were booked - even received a text on the (would have been) departure date to say they hoped we enjoyed the holiday. However, the process between the agent and owner appears to be 'provisional'.
