Switching IHD off each night?

I have now plugged my British Gas smart meter IHD, as well as a lot of other things, into a "smart" extension lead that is switched off every night.

Will this end up causing any problems with the IHD and its connection to the smart meter?

After the novelty of looking at it has worn off, why keep it on at all? If you need to take meter readings just turn it on for that.
