Green Homes Grant scheme quotes

Hello,
I am trying to apply for the "Green Homes Grant scheme" and went through the process here (https://www.simpleenergyadvice.org.uk/energy-efficiency/your-plan). At the end it stated that "Download your plan and contact installers to get quotes for the improvements that you have selected." Is there a list of approved installers that we must used to get quotes. Also, is the assessment free or would I have to pay?
Thanks

  • Only installers that are on the trustmark scheme can be used at the moment (the site should give a list under installers)
You will most likely find there arent many available and those that are available are already bogged down giving quotes.
  • I got a quote yesterday by one of the trustmark installers to add 170mm of insulation in my roof, £1280 they wanted & I have to pay 1/3 of it myself. I decided to do it myself & ordered the insulation I needed from Wickes for £98 so the installer wanted £1182 for a couple of hours work at the most.
    What a rip off
  • I have just called the three recommended installers in my area for loft insulation  - left a message on one, voicemail full on the second, and the call would not connect on the third. I can only assume they can't cope with demand.  And as philupnorth says, and other forums warn, if you can actually GET quotes they may be massively inflated so although it's early days I can't help but be sceptical that the whole scheme will be a flop.
  • Well, I'm sure Martin Lewis has promoted this very well on his TV program and no doubt gained some extra dosh  In reality, loads of have people have applied for this grant, but nobody is willing to complete the work.  Sorry to say that Martin Lewis is more concerned about fame than fortune.  Sincere no.
  • I'm afraid this whole scheme is a shambles of a shambles, half the companies I phone don't do the work I need even though it says they do on the gov website or they're too busy to do in time or they don't get back to me if I leave email queries.Obviously not enough installers.

Has anyone had vouchers approved following a quote?

I've got one company in my area so can't even get the three quotes. The one company that is in the area will come and see me on MONDAY 4th JANUARY 2021. Think it's reasonable to assume the funding will be allocated by then.
  • Hello, I've managed to get one quote for external wall insulation from a trustmark trader (no response from other installers), the person who came to quote said that because I could realistically only get my side end wall done (not enough room at the back) I would probably not be eligible for the grant because a minimum of 60% of the external surface area must be done? Has anyone else heard this?
  • I got a quote other the week - front and rear of the house with ewi 90mm eps and silicon render with extending the soil pipe - came in at a few pence short of 10k - which is the same figure I was eligible to apply for 🤔
