Hi folks,I look after my mother full time but she has 8 carers that visit to give her personal care.I like to buy them something for xmas but haven't got a lot of money as I survive on carers allowance.I'm wondering if anyone has seen any larger sized boxes of chocolates like Thorntons at a good price,I suppose I will have to spend £10 each on them, that might not seem much but it's a lot to me.In previous years I got them a large plastic tub of Quality street 720g that you can pick up for about £3.50 and put a couple of other confectionery items in a bag with it,but having thought about it,I think that looked like I was just trying to buy them the cheapest thing that I could without much thought, and I don't want anyone to feel like that way,I thought they were nice to give as a gift as you get so many in the tubs.Anyway I thought I would do something a bit better this year as it's been a hard year for everyone.
So if anyone has any suggestions or knows of an online site that I could pick up something at a good price, that would be appreciated.

What about a smaller gift, but good quality chocolate, such as Belgium chocolate?
Guylian Sea Shells are really nice. Currently on offer at £3.50 a box in Sainsbury's for the 250g box (usually £4.75 a box).
Much nicer than Thornton's too.3 -
Also, Lindt chocolate is lovely.

The Lindor truffles in 200g boxes are really nice, priced at £4.99 each and they have some smaller advent calendars costing around £5.00. I have ordered online before several times and always had a great service from they.
Can you tell I am obsessed by chocolate?1 -
well it's personal taste isn't it. Not that keen on posh chocs myself but I think Thornton's look nice!
The large boxes have an offer on at the moment, 6 for £35 instead of £8.50 each and the shop always does offers in the run up to Xmas in my High Street as well. There are some other very good offers on their website atm too. Maybe it's to do with the best before dates.1 -
I checked my local Thorntons this week as I'm shopping for Christmas early not wanting to be around in busy shops. The sell by date was end October so please check0

Thanks, that's a very good point.I suppose those shops would have been shut for months and footfall has been limited with less people in towns when they did open so plenty of the older stuff will be about I suppose,I would have to order online and would have to ask them before purchasing what the dates are going to be like, that's if they have a clue as they will be being sent out from a warehouse,I shall leave it late though

So much to read, so little time.1 -
Does it have to be chocolates? What about a Christmas cake or Yule Log? The supermarkets do them at various prices.
Are you going into shops? I haven't been there for a few years but ALDI used to do a variety of Christmas sweets and chocolates and biscuits that were a bit different from the standard.0
