Bank scandal, do I need to move banks?

Forget banks, try the mattress instead. That way you can sleep nicely on top of your stash!0

That depends on how ethical you are. I always try to do the right thing and support companies who are more ethical than others. I avoid shopping at Tesco or Asda since they are at the very bottom of the league table of ethical supermarkets. I buy organic food where I can and meat from ethical producers. I would avoid Barclays or Natwest because they are at the bottom of the ethical league table for banks. Most people agree on what is ethical or not (strangely not on here) so it's easy to bank reasonably ethically. I used to bank with Triodos and @colsten kindly pointed out something unethical I wasn't aware of so I moved to the Co-operative Bank. I would certainly move my money out of a bank were I aware of anything untoward. It's for you to judge what is unacceptable to you. I have a low tolerance, yours might be higher. If all you're worried about is your money then as others have pointed out it is protected up to £80K.1
