PVR dying, now what?

Wondering what to replace it with and pondering another one so after suggestions that’s not in the hundreds.
I don’t have a smart TV; I’m getting a freebie Chromecast but my internet is a bit hit and miss so I don’t really want to be streaming that much. I’d rather just record then watch as and when. Recording two things at once would be handy,
And I don’t want to watch catch up on my laptop or tablet.
What would you folks suggest?

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

    Buy another one?

Well realistically unless you have Sky or Virgin, (or Freesat) the easiest solution is a Freeview Play recorder, surely?

With respect, the post is pretty vague and it tends to help if you tell us what PVR is dying, rather than just saying "its broke, I want another one."

  • Humax sell refurb ones too - last one I had was as good as new

  • Lots of cheap ones on ebay. Due to catch up tv through the internet many people have stopped using them.

A Manhattan T3.R was my choice when my much-loved Humax PVR9300T failed, having been unimpressed with the reviews of the latest models available from "the usual supplier" Humax.  Richer Sounds is where I got mine - a 500GB hard disk version (£169) should be plenty unless you're into saving films and shows in great quantity.  Read up on the specs to see if it does what you want.  I'd be delighted if it had three tuners instead of 'just' two...

Manhattan T3-R.  Nice and quick to use.  Works well.  I bought one to replace an old Youview box with response time measured in minutes,

Its vague because I have no idea what the options are or whether PVRs have been superseded.
I currently have a Toshiba RD100KB dvd/hd recorder which I now realise probably isn’t a PVR anyway. It’s been repaired  twice already but the repair cafe is shut due to COVID and I suspect another repair wouldn’t keep it fixed for long.
I also want to continue to watch DVDs but am presuming I’ll also need a new DVD player to add to the set up somehow.
I’m not sure what other information you need.
Also to add until your post I hadn’t heard of a Freeview play recorder. Hence coming here to ask what else there might be that I also wasn’t aware of.

You need a Freeview recorder and a DVD player then.
