So, had an A4 letter to send, so sent first class on Wednesday - still not arrived. I know they now say its a 'delivery aim' to be next day, but if this is first class, what would second be?

You do realise the postal service has been affected by the pandemic since March and is still ongoing.I’ve had a variety of 1st and 2nd class to send and receive over the months and timescales have varied from a few days to a few weeks.3

Anyway it arrived today so posted on weds, arrived following Monday - not a first class service as far as i'm concerned.

First class mail has always been a total waste of money.

1st class post is assumed to arrive 2 working days after posting (per the Interpretations Act 1978). Whether it actually does is another matter, but for serving legal papers then 1st class post with a certificate of posting is all you need for evidence of service.2
