will try and keep this as short as possible.
My grandson was given a second hand Dell Optiplex 760, i am not sure what windows version is in it.
It was working but he had to keep it in his bedroom until he had work done downstairs in the house, there is no wi-fi facility on the computer, he moved it downstairs yesterday and connected it up to hub via ethernet cable and couldn't get it to run properly and for some reason he decided to do a factory reset.
When he started it again he got the following
"The operating system couldn't be located because the system registry file is missing or contains errors
File:\Windows\system32\config\system
Error Code: 0xc00000e9
You need to use recovery tools. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your PC administrator or PC/Device manufacturer"
Can someone knowledgeable person please help us with a fixable solution
I have an old Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit x86 Upgrade:pre-existing OS license required
disc and the product key code for this, is it of any use
All help much appreciated
John

If no idea, it may be quickest to buy and fit a cheap SSD for £20 and clean install Windows 10 to it.1
