LTSB 'refused' OD increase, asks for payslip?

Options
Hi,

This morning as I was on the phone with LTSB with regards to why my Standing Orders are not going out, I checked with them if I could increase my Overdraft to £300, from £200.

The agent tried it on his system and said it seems that he can't - he said he'll have a word with the Personal Banking team. Later on he put me through tothe Personal Banking team, and after doing security checks, the agent told me he'll have to call me back in 10 mins. He did ask me how do I get paid and is it directly to LTSB or to some other banks (other banks in my case).

10 mins later, he called - and he told me I'd have to bring my payslip to a branch and they should be able to do it from there.

I was wondering, if I decide all this is too much of a hassle and not bring the payslip in, will this flag up in their system and says "Customer failed to produce payslip"?

Btw, the OD is non-essential, just to make sure a bounced D/D or S/O doesn't bring me into the unapproved OD zone.

Also, I'm surprised that my OD was refused - a few weeks back when I was at branch, I was shown that I am eligible for £1300 OD and a Platinum account and £2000 Credit Limit. Surprised though that they only agreed to increase my credit card limit to £1400 when I asked for an increase!

Thanks!

  • No but other postings suggest you are a new customer.
Showing a payslip proves your income to what you put on your application (whether this was in branch on the telephone or on the internet).
Things will settle down after 3 months or so when you build up a relationship with the bank.

NB LTSB had a problem last night with their systems - a lot of accounts were not debited (or credited) on time today - my online bills due out this morning went from my account at about 5.30 pm.

    Thanks Ejones999.

I have been banking with them since Nov 2006. I started off with regular credits of £500 until 2 months ago when the monthly credits became about £1100. There are also occasional parental contributions and part time work income.

Is this the actual reason that they want my payslip?
