Quick Quid Default via FRAUD! - Any advice would be helpful .

Hi everyone! Hope you're all well during these uncertain times!

In December 2011 someone took a quick quid account out in my name. I was 21 at the time, and wasn't aware of how to deal with it so reported it to the police and then didn't really chase it up. I thought if the police aren't willing to help (they just took a statement and that was it), then theres nothing I can do.

In Dec 2015 - this became a default on my credit file for the sum of around £500 and has been in default since!
Its now September 2020 and I'm 30 and wanting to get on top of things especially if im looking to seek credit for buying a home etc.
I believe a default stays on your account for 6 years which means by Dec 2021 it should get removed automatically, however Im worried QQ might perk up and turn this default into a CCJ which would then stay on my account for another 6 years, right? (please correct me if i'm wrong).

My questions are:
  1. Shall I call up quick quick (even though they appear to have gone into administration) and pay off the sum of nearly £500 to set the default as 'satisfied'?
  2. Would the 'default' or 'satisfied' Quick quid issue come off by Dec 2021 for definite?
  3. Could it become a CCj and then stay on my credit rating for another 6 years if I do not satisfy this now?
  4. What do you feel would be the best course of action? The sum of around £500 is a lot but its payable if necessary to clear the situation and avoid a CCJ!
  5. I was also thinking of adding a 'Notice of Correction' to it so lenders are able to see the truth behind it.
All your ideas and suggestions would be super helpful
Thanks and look forward to your comments.

Contact Quick Quid and raise a complaint.

This should have also been reported to Action Fraud.

    Don’t add a NOC.
  • You'll probably need the Police report number to get anywhere on this (as far as getting it removed because of fraud) after so much time, do you still have it?

Did you challenge the loan with Quick Quid at the time?
They can’t just turn it into a CCJ - that would involve a court process and they would have to try to let you know first. Do they have your current address or is there a risk of letters going elsewhere?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I worry If I contact them to raise anything now, that it may escalate and stay on my file for longer than 6 years.

What happens when you report the fraud? Would it be worth doing this? I do feel like I mentioned this to QQ many years ago when I started receiving letters at a property I haven't lived in for over 5 years, but all I remember the operator saying is if I pay an amount of the loan now, it'll get settled which I wasn't willing to do because it wasn't my QQ loan (it was the fraudsters!).

I don't think letters are going to my old add anything. I think QQ have just left this in default and thats how its showing up on my credit file.

I don't unfortunately. It was such a long time ago. The only thing I remember is the police office accusing me of doing the fraud and not really being helpful at all.

I did challenge it with QQ and they stated that I pay off an amount of the loan so that it can be settled. I wasn't willing to do that as it wasn't my doing. QQ only have the old address so any correspondence would only go there.

I wonder if its worth contacting QQ at all to resolve this as I only have a year left with the default?
I would rather get it sorted so its not hanging over my head but whats the best way of doing this?
