My car has been off the road for a month waiting for a part from the USA stuck in DHL.
Thanks for help.

Probably stuck in customs clearance. There'll be duty and VAT payable on it.

Is it coming straight to you, or to a garage?

Stuck in DHL?  Does it track at all?   UK Port/Customs  or still in the US?    100% a US seller with a direct sale
not someone reselling where they sourced it elsewhere and drop shipped, or had to buy it themselves before
    shipping to you?

Approx cost including postage?  New or Used?

Does the part comply with UK regulations, nothing banned from postage by DHL?

  • Ring up DHL customer services and ask what the hold is. If it's coming from the US almost certainly they need the customs declaration from you and to pay import duty etc Possible the US firm didn't do the commercial invoice properly either. Possible also if it's a month and you haven't spoken to them it's probably gone back to the sender.

Most courier companies would rather not talk to the customer expecting a delivery, they'd rather you went through the sender. The sender has a contract with the courier company but you don't.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

If you are the receiver and are liable for tax then they absolutely will be happy to talk to you to get their handling/storage fees as well as the duty.
Chasing lost parcels or getting tracking/POD etc sure the contract is with the sender but in the case of an import unless agreed otherwise with the seller, you are liable for paying the tax on receipt to the UK

That is not, generally speaking, correct.
