Hi there,
Hope this is the correct place to post as it's a rather random one.
I'm currently with EDF but I went to submit an updated meter reading back in July and noticed that a Shell smart meter had been installed on my gas supply.
I currently live in a rental property and my landlord (who is with Shell) has for the last couple of months tried to resolve this issue. Shell finally sent an engineer this month to conduct a burns test and they confirmed the the smart meter is installed incorrectly on my meter.
Any advice would be very welcome with what I can do as Shell aren't picking up!

Welcome to the forum. It's unclear what outcome you are seeking. If you think there's been an erroneous transfer, you can check at Find My Gas Supplier.Make sure that the closing reading from the old meter and the opening reading of the smart meter are correct.0

Hi Gerry,
Thanks for your reply.
I'm trying to get the Shell smart meter removed from my gas supply as I'm with a different supplier but between Shell customer services not picking up, and their online help/Twitter not being remotely helpful I'm hoping for any advice what I can do?0 -
A meter is a meter. Presumably the technician who changed the gas meter has left a note of the reading from the meter he removed, and there is a record of the opening reading on the new meter. This meter is recording your consumption, so keep taking readings.
Have you told EDF what has happened? I think you should tell them that the meter was changed on whatever date with a closing reading of whatever it was. Tell them the serial number of the new meter, and the opening reading, and indeed the current reading, ask them to update their records and bill you accordingly. After all even if the Shell people come along and take out their meter, it will still have recorded your consumption, for which you will have to pay EDF, and whatever meter gets installed, EDF will need to know the closing readings and the opening readings etc. etc.0 -
First and only action should have been to report it to EDF.They are responsible for your meter and they will have to sort out the problem with Shell one way or another...0
