Can we apply for multiple HSBC Advance accounts?

Options
Hi, I’ve applied to switch a little used current account in my sole name from Barclays to a HSBC Advance account with the £125 bonus and access to the 2.75% linked savings account. Does anyone know if I can switch a joint account that me and my wife have and also if she can apply for a single account as well? Remember that you could years ago, as MSE Martin used to encourage it if you could meet the required pay-ins (or hop money between the accounts) and have the necessary minimum DD/STO outgoing. Wasn’t sure if the banks have since clamped down on the ability to open up to 3 accounts this way. I.e. holder 1, holder 2 and joint acc holders 1&2. Thanks.

You could find that you won't get the joint acc bonus as you will be a account holder.
    Check the T/C.
Also HSBC are well know for turning down applications.

It isn't viable to generalise about what 'the banks' have done, as they'll each have their own individual account and offer Ts & Cs, with which you'll have to familiarise when considering applying anyway.

https://www.hsbc.co.uk/content/dam/hsbc/gb/pdf/125-switcher-offer-terms-and-conditions.pdf is easy to find and answers your question (but not in the way you were hoping!)....

The wife could apply for a sole account and switch in a sole account of hers from another bank. She should receive the incentive subject to meeting the offer terms.

It's unlikely that you'd also qualify for switching a joint account.
