Hmm reminds me of something that keeps happening to me at Halifax, have had an account for 4 years and since it was opened I have had the strange problem of "phantom" transactions, i.e my balance doesnt go down but I cant spend money as im told theres some payments that have been authorised but havent been taken from account yet and will take a few days to show.
Normally its like 1-4 £1 transactions, once it was 12 £1 ones and I had to wait a month for the funds to become available again, and the rude girl at the halifax accused me of lying when I asked her what it was(she was new, and a few weeks later noticed she was no longer there must of been fired lol)0 -
I've personally witnessed authorisations drop off an RBS account in 2 WORKING days, then claimed the day after. I have never ever witnessed an authorisation last more than 3 WORKING days, ever.
Really.
Then there's a fault in your system - you need to report. And which your post fully clarifies. No authorisation should drop off within the minimum period allowed to the Merchant acquirer to make the claim - as the payment is no longer then guaranteed and could bounce.
And if you've never seen one last longer than 3 working days - you've never seen the type of transaction that was under discussion! If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
I wonder how this would work with a pre-paid credit card? lolDebt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0

Probably exactly the same. I would imagine they use the same system whichever card is used.
I suppose they want to make sure you have the money before making up the order.
