Wooden bed frames and best buy mattresses

Hi All,

I'm looking for a simple wooden double bed frame and a really good firm mattress. Does anyone have suggestions of best places to buy either?

I've heard that the Loaf 'Perfect Mattress' is really good so am considering that, especially as it comes with a 10 year warranty. But if anyone has other cheaper but just as good suggestions, then I'd love to hear them...

Bed frames seem a little harder to find. The 'Wilton' at John Lewis has been recommended by somebody who has one already, and I trust JL so that's probably the easiest choice. But I've also found the 'Woodstock' at Dreams and the Hanna in Argos, both are the same price but I don't know anything about Dreams and am worried the Argos one will just collapse. Any thoughts on either? Or other suggestions? I can go up (or down) in a budget a little for something that could last a lot longer.

Thank you!

Had a bed and mattress from QD - Delivery was a tad slow, but acceptable. The bed, a Madison day bed, is sturdy, cheap, an ideal for what I needed. Price was good too.

Ikea mattresses tend to be firmer than most retail mattresses. Their mattresses are well made, and they also have a range of bedbases. Customer service is a bit patchy - make sure you are happy with the mattress and bed before you order it.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Ikea mattresses are always getting best buys on the Which magazine website.
  • I'd second the IKEA mattresses , gives me a cracking nights sleep

As for bed frames that's in my eyes no where near as important as the mattress

And lol I nearly bought that Woodstock from dreams I thought it was a really nice bed , I liked the detail in the rounded corners

  • Which Ikea mattresses were you impressed with? I'm getting quite mixed reviews...

If you go ikea be careful to get a bed frame the right size.

We bought an ikea bed frame and mattress. The frame was a bit of a faff to put together but works okay.

I've just bought a bed frame from Alphabeds. We’ve been using their stuff for many years, and it’s v sturdy. They’ll deliver and erect for you if you’re in their area, which includes the M25.
